About the Role

Position Summary: 

As a Beertender at Keeneland Hospitality, you are responsible for efficiently and responsibly serving draft, bottled and canned beer to guests at concession locations, ensuring compliance with alcohol service laws and delivering outstanding customer service consistent with Keeneland’s standards. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Pour and serve a variety of beers on tap and in bottles/cans efficiently and accurately. 
  • Prepare and serve kegged cocktails, ensuring proper technique, portioning, and consistency. 
  • Engage guests with genuine hospitality; offer recommendations based on personal preference, menu pairings, and seasonal offerings. 
  • Serve small bites and quick food options, such as burgers and hot dogs, with attention to presentation and speed of service. 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station, including taps, coolers, and bar surfaces. 
  • Monitor keg levels and assist with changing kegs to maintain uninterrupted service flow. 
  • Support bar and concession staff with product restocking and setup during pre-opening and throughout service. 
  • Uphold Keeneland’s responsible alcohol service policy and follow all Kentucky ABC regulations. 
  • Maintains health code, safety, and sanitation standards in regards to proper food handling and storage. 
  • Execute proper cash handling, use of POS systems, and reconciliation procedures with accuracy. 
  • Assist with bar opening and closing duties as needed and maintain a professional demeanor throughout all guest interactions. 

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Previous experience as a Beertender, Bartender, or Barback in a fast-paced or high-volume setting. 
  • Working knowledge of domestic and craft beer styles, ABV, glassware, proper pour techniques, and keg cocktail preparation. 
  • Ability to serve basic food items with speed and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication skills with a warm, guest-first mindset.
  • Ability to lift kegs, cases, and stand for extended periods in varying weather conditions. 
  • Must be 20 years or older and possess or obtain a valid Kentucky Alcohol Server Permit. Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. 

Licensing Requirements:

  •  A valid Fayette County Food Handler’s License is required for all food and beverage staff. Must be obtained prior to the first scheduled shift. 
  • A Kentucky Horse Racing Commission license is required for all track workers. This license will be provided to you on behalf of Keeneland upon hire.
