About the Role

Alpha Transport, a leading petroleum transporter in the Western U.S., is committed to safety, professionalism,

quality workmanship, and exceptional service. We are seeking an experienced Tank Fabricator to join our

maintenance team.


The Tank Fabricator will be responsible for the fabrication, repair, modification, and welding of petroleum tanks,

trailers, and related equipment. The ideal candidate is a skilled fabricator and certified welder who takes pride

in producing safe, high-quality work while maintaining compliance with applicable Federal DOT cargo tank

standards and regulations.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Fabricate, repair, modify, and rebuild petroleum tanks, trailers, and related equipment.
  • Perform welding and fabrication work according to job specifications, safety requirements, and applicable
  • industry standards.
  • Cut, fit, form, assemble, and weld components used in tank and trailer repairs and fabrication.
  • Measure, lay out, and prepare materials for fabrication projects.
  • Perform major and minor structural repairs on tanks, trailers, and related equipment.
  • Inspect fabricated components and completed welds to ensure quality, proper fit, and workmanship.
  • Diagnose damaged or worn tank and trailer components and determine appropriate fabrication or repair methods.
  • Perform modifications and repairs necessary to maintain the safe operation of tanks, trailers, and
  • equipment.
  • Ensure tanks, trailers, and equipment are safe for transport and meet applicable Federal DOT cargo tank standards and regulations.
  • Properly operate welding, cutting, grinding, fabrication, and shop equipment.
  • Follow established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Properly care for tools, welding equipment, and fabrication equipment.
  • Work cooperatively with mechanics, maintenance personnel, drivers, and leadership to complete repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned

Requirements



• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum of two (2) years of professional tank fabrication experience required.

• Current welding certification required.

• Demonstrated welding and fabrication skills.

• Experience with layout, fitting, cutting, forming, and fabrication of tank and trailer components.

• Knowledge and understanding of petroleum tanks, trailers, and equipment accessories.

• Ability to read measurements and follow fabrication specifications and repair instructions.

• Ability to identify structural damage and determine appropriate repair or fabrication methods.

• Valid driver's license.

• Clean driving record.

• Basic computer skills.

• Must have tools necessary to perform job functions.

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

• Ability to safely perform physically demanding work in a shop environment.


Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced tank and trailer fabrication experience.

• Experience and knowledge of Federal and DOT cargo tank requirements.

• Experience and knowledge of DOT cargo tank tests and inspections.

• Experience performing major tank and trailer structural repairs.

• Multiple welding certifications or demonstrated proficiency in welding processes applicable to petroleum

tank and trailer fabrication.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
