Description

Bloomsbury is seeking a Fall Editorial Intern for its Adult Trade team. The intern will assist our closeknit team of editors in the publication of both literary/upmarket fiction and general nonfiction. Please note that interns will not be working with Sarah J. Maas titles nor YA/Children’s books. Bloomsbury is committed to creating an inclusive environment and we encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply. Wage: $18.00/hr

Duration: This position runs from September 1 – December 8 with the opportunity for extension.

Time commitment: We require a commitment of 29 hours per week. Availability must include the core hours of 10:00-4:00 Monday-Thursday.

Location:  Candidates must reside in the NY tri-state area, and be able to work in person at our midtown Manhattan office 2 days per week. 

Requirements

Since we are a small team, interns play an integral role in our day-to-day operations. Intern projects reflect the diverse aspects of trade publishing, including:

• Promptly reading, evaluating, and discussing manuscripts and proposals (both fiction and nonfiction)
• Attending editorial meetings, season launches, check-ins, and other meetings as necessary
• Leading our literary award submission process
• Conducting research and contributing to metadata
• Assisting, as needed, with mailings, copyright processes, and drafting of materials 
• Other duties as assigned 

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, able to manage their own time, and highly organized. Candidates must have a demonstrable interest in contemporary literature and publishing.
