REPORTS TO: Director of Golf


POSITION SUMMARY

The Seasonal Assistant Golf Professional supports the daily operation of Hideaway Golf Club's Golf Operations while delivering an exceptional golf experience that reflects the Club's commitment to understated luxury, personalized service, and operational excellence.

This position assists with all aspects of golf operations, including member services, Golf Shop operations, tournament administration, merchandising, pace of play, outside services coordination, and instruction. The Assistant Golf Professional serves as an ambassador for the Club and is responsible for fostering meaningful relationships with Members through professional, knowledgeable, and personalized service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Member Service & Hospitality

  • Welcome Members and Guests warmly and professionally. 
  • Learn and recognize Members by name and become familiar with their playing preferences. 
  • Deliver a highly personalized golf experience through exceptional hospitality. 
  • Anticipate Member needs and proactively exceed expectations. 
  • Respond promptly and professionally to Member questions and requests. 
  • Build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries. 
  • Represent Hideaway Golf Club with professionalism both on and off the golf course. 

Golf Operations

  • Assist with the daily operation of the Golf Shop. 
  • Coordinate daily tee sheets and monitor tee time activity. 
  • Manage pace of play and provide on-course support as needed. 
  • Conduct starting and player assistance responsibilities. 
  • Oversee daily golf operations to ensure an exceptional Member experience. 
  • Resolve Member concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues to the Director of Golf  when appropriate.
  • Coordinate with Outside Services to ensure golf carts, bag storage, and practice facilities are properly prepared and maintained. 
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures. 
  • Maintain accurate daily records and operational reports. 

Tournament & Event Operations

  • Assist with planning, organizing, and executing Member tournaments and golf events. 
  • Prepare tournament materials, scorecards, pairings, and cart assignments. 
  • Assist with scoring and results. 
  • Coordinate with Food & Beverage and other departments to ensure seamless event execution. 
  • Utilize and assist in maintaining tournament management software, scoring systems, and related technology. 
  • Ensure all tournament operations reflect Hideaway's standards of excellence. 

Golf Shop Operations

  • Provide exceptional retail service. 
  • Process merchandise sales and daily transactions accurately. 
  • Assist with merchandising, displays, inventory control, and receiving. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional Golf Shop. 
  • Promote Club merchandise and special events. 

Instruction & Player Development

  • Provide golf instruction and coaching as assigned. 
  • Assist with golf clinics, junior golf, ladies' golf, and Member instructional programs. 
  • Promote player development initiatives. 
  • Encourage participation in Club golf activities. 
  • Stay current on teaching techniques and industry trends. 

Operations & Teamwork

  • Support all Golf Operations based on business needs. 
  • Work collaboratively with Golf Professionals, Outside Services, Food & Beverage, and other Club departments. 
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. 
  • Follow all Club policies and operational procedures. 
  • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Professional Golf Management, Business, Hospitality, or a related field preferred. 
  • Previous experience in golf operations, Golf Shop operations, or a private club environment preferred. 
  • PGA Associate enrollment preferred; Class A PGA Membership strongly preferred. Candidates not currently enrolled must demonstrate a commitment to pursuing PGA Professional education. 
  • Thorough knowledge of the Rules of Golf and their application in a private club environment. 
  • Experience with golf tournament software and point-of-sale systems preferred. 
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to luxury hospitality and Member service. 
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, tournaments, and special events. 
  • Valid California Driver License with an acceptable driving record.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Standing and walking for extended periods while assisting Members, supervising golf operations, conducting starting duties, monitoring pace of play, and providing on-course support. 
  • Demonstrating golf techniques and providing individual and group instruction during lessons, clinics, and Member programs. 
  • Operating golf carts throughout the property while assisting Members and monitoring golf course activity.
  • Frequently using hands and fingers to operate point-of-sale systems, tournament software, radios, telephones, computers, and other Golf Shop equipment. 
  • Lifting, carrying, transporting, and organizing golf bags, merchandise, tee markers, signage, tournament materials, and other golf-related equipment weighing up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. 
  • Setting up and breaking down tournaments, golf events, clinics, and instructional programs, including moving tables, signage, scoring materials, and event equipment. 
  • Reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching while stocking merchandise, organizing displays, retrieving equipment, setting tee markers, and assisting Members. 
  • Reading tee sheets, tournament documents, merchandise information, reports, computer screens, and golf course information requiring close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Communicating clearly and professionally with Members, Guests, Golf Professionals, Outside Services staff, and other Club departments in person, by telephone, radio, and electronic communication. 
  • Working outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including prolonged exposure to the high temperatures common to the Coachella Valley. 
  • Maintaining situational awareness of Member activity, golf course conditions, pace of play, and safety while simultaneously managing multiple operational responsibilities.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and composure while providing exceptional Member service during periods of high activity, tournaments, and special events. 

Work Environment 

This position works in both indoor and outdoor environments and regularly performs duties throughout the Golf Shop, practice facilities, golf courses, and Club grounds. Responsibilities require frequent interaction with Members and Guests in a fast-paced luxury private club environment while balancing multiple operational priorities. Team Members must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including prolonged exposure to the high temperatures common to the Coachella Valley, while maintaining exceptional Member service, professionalism, and operational standards.
