About the Role

Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Buyer/Planner II.

$75,000.00/yr. - $105,000.00/yr. - DOE

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Purchase the material required for production including raw materials, machined parts, electronic components, tools, and other supplies.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers, negotiate prices, and coordinates logistics.
  • Initiates RFQ’s and onboards capable suppliers.
  • Analyze part usage and sales forecasts to set up the appropriate planning policies in the company’s MRP system.
  • Assists the Purchasing team with technical planning questions.
  • Manages supply chain projects with limited supervision.
  • Represent the Materials team in ECO meetings.
  • Monitors and evaluates supplier performance, including supplier development and process/cost improvement.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Participates in the Materials group’s continuous improvement projects.
  • Must be able to work with limited or no supervision.
  • Must be able to work full time onsite.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Must have advanced MRP knowledge
  • APICS CPIM certification is preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex supply chains.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Analytical skills for short term/long-term planning and follow-up.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., Defense, Aerospace, medical device, etc.) preferred

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain/Production and Operations Management or equivalent experience (5+ year Buyer/Planner experience)
