Job Summary


The Registered Dietitian oversees the nutrition care of inpatients and outpatients, performing nutritional assessments, and managing the physician's orders for therapeutic diets and supplements. The Registered Dietitian also provides nutrition education to patients and/or families, attends patient rounds, and maintains clinical nutrition policies.

Duties:


• Complete nutrition assessments and follow-ups on patients with increased nutritional needs in accordance with the facility's policies. Document assessment of patients with nutritional goals and/or changes in status in the medical record.

• Educate patients and/or family members on nutritional needs as indicated. • Educate staff, nursing, and food service employees on issues regarding special diets.

• Attend patient rounds on assigned floors. Inform nurses and physicians of changes in the patient's nutritional status.

• Present self in a professional manner in accordance with behavioral expectations of the facility and HHS.

• Adhere to the facility's policies and procedures, including the confidentiality and patient's rights policies as outlined in the facility's policies and procedures manual.

• Adhere to the facility's Emergency Preparedness Program, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other mandatory programs in the facility as appropriate.

• Perform other tasks as may be assigned.


Requirements:


• Registered Dietitian with Commission of Dietetic Registration and Licensed Dietitian as required per state regulations.

• Applicable work experience preferred.

· Proficient in computer skills, including Excel and Word.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
