Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 though community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. Position Summary:

Provides support for our electronic health record (EHR) to Physicians, Nurses, and all other healthcare providers. Assists in the evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of the EHR using the knowledge and skills of clinical practice. Provides technical resource assistance along with clinical innovation for the hospital and clinic. Responds promptly to assistance requests from end users. 


Essential Functions (Responsibilities/Accountabilities):

  • Preferred previous experience with clinical application installation and end user support and training
  • Applies critical thinking skills to troubleshoot system variants 
  • Champions the redesign of clinical workflow and processes essential for the adoption of new technology and seeks solutions that optimize system performance and enhance technology utilization for providers and clinical staff 
  • Provides and/or supports training, taking into consideration variation for adult learning styles, while onboarding providers and staff 
  • Ensures product enhancement education is provided with future release content for current electronic healthcare solutions
  • Provides knowledge in achieving regulations of Meaningful Use as well as other facility quality programs that interact with documentation of clinical services (promoting interoperability)
  • Facilitates the development and maintenance of clinical order sets and electronic forms utilized in the hospital or clinic 
  • Actively communicates with software vendors to ensure customer needs are met 
  • Utilizes project management skills by organizing time, people, resources, and tasks to achieve the overall goal in other facility initiatives assigned as projects 
  • Proactively seeks user feedback and questions in support of EHR utilization 
  • Participates in the development and testing of application functions to meet facility needs. 
  • Assists in the development of EHR user related policies and procedures


The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required in support of the hospital’s goals and objectives.


Position Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent 
  • 3-5 years of direct patient care experience utilizing an HER
  • Flexibility of availability, ensuring support for end users is available when needed
  • Proficient with development and troubleshooting of clinical software 
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with care providers of all levels and work effectively within team dynamics

Position Preferences:

  • BS/BA in Nursing or related informatics field 
  • Previous experience and knowledge of EHR software, specifically Athena 
  • Previous work experience in a clinical informatics role
  • Knowledge of quality regulations, specifically related to promoting interoperability
  • Experience with hypertext markup language (HTML), Excel (spreadsheets/pivot tables/data analysis), Adobe editing and creating portable network graphic (PNG) documents 


Pay Range:

Pay ranges from $26.688/hour to $42.740/hour for an RN (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience)
