Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and organised Stores Controller to join our Fire Testing team in East Kilbride. This is a hands-on role responsible for managing all aspects of materials handling, storage, and stock control to support our testing and build operations. You will ensure the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of materials while maintaining high standards of safety and organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Materials Management

  • Receive, inspect, and record all incoming deliveries, verifying quantities and condition against purchase orders
  • Organise and store materials in designated locations to maximize space and accessibility
  • Label materials accurately according to project requirements to ensure complete traceability
  • Prepare and stage materials for builds and testing operations, coordinating with technical teams on timing and specifications

Stock Control & Ordering

  • Maintain accurate stock records through regular counts and reconciliations
  • Monitor stock levels and raise purchase orders to replenish materials as required
  • Identify and report slow-moving, excess, or obsolete stock
  • Liaise with suppliers and procurement to ensure timely delivery of materials

Operations

  • Safely operate a forklift to move, load, and unload materials within the warehouse and yard
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and used in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Manage the collection, sorting, and disposal of waste materials from test and build processes
  • Control skip usage, ensuring correct waste segregation (general, recyclable, hazardous)

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly storage area in line with health and safety standards
  • Ensure all disposal activities comply with environmental and safety regulations
  • Report any discrepancies, damages, or shortages to the relevant department

 

Qualifications

  • Valid Forklift license
  • UK driving license
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge of construction materials and processes
  • Previous experience in stores, warehouse, or materials management

Additional Information

This role is integral to the smooth operation of our Fire Testing facility. You will work closely with our build and test teams to ensure materials are available when needed, while maintaining the highest standards of organization and safety. Full training will be provided on all aspects of the role, including our stock management systems, safety procedures, and operational requirements.
