We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Overnight Monitor to support our Adult Detox residential treatment program in Lemon Grove. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and structured environment for clients during overnight hours while ensuring program operations run smoothly.
The SUD Overnight Monitor provides oversight for multiple residential programs, supports client safety and wellness, responds to emergencies, and assists with essential administrative and program duties.

Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold and promote the mission, philosophy, values, and direction of McAlister Institute.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and recovery-focused residential environment.
- Monitor client safety and well-being throughout the overnight shift.
- Conduct hourly facility walk-throughs and ensure building security.
- Complete shift documentation, logs, reports, and other required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Provide program coverage as needed, including answering phones, filing, and general administrative support.
- Monitor client activities and ensure compliance with program guidelines.
- Respond appropriately to crises, emergencies, unusual incidents, and disaster preparedness situations in accordance with established protocols.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, quality assurance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, welcoming, and safe facility environment.
- Assist with intake, assessment, and drug testing responsibilities as assigned.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with community partners and referral agencies.
- Maintain current certifications and participate in required professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Certified or Registered SUD Counselor (CAADE, CADTP, or equivalent required).
- Minimum of two years’ experience in behavioral health services preferred.
- Experience working with adult populations in a counseling or therapeutic setting.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred.
- Demonstrated success working with the unique needs of clients referred through agencies such as the Probation Department, Child Welfare Services, Dependency Drug Court, and the criminal justice system preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated empathy for, and knowledge of the needs of clients with co-occurring conditions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance use treatment.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and the ability to apply it in counseling.
- Proficiency in maintaining confidential client records and case documentation.
- Exudes a calm and competent manner, able to converse with medical professionals, lay persons, as well as persons or families and defuse crisis or high intensity situations.
- Proficiency with software and/or equipment (Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Proficient with EHR Systems (e.g., Electronic Health Records such as Welligent or Smartcare).
- Compliance with all agency and contract requirements related to trainings, public health, certifications, and reporting.
- Maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; effectively regulates emotions, especially under stress; remains open to others' ideas and tries new things.
- Ability to pass all pre-employment screening, including a criminal background check with at least one year clear of probation or parole, a drug test, and a negative TB test.
- Must have reliable transportation.

Pre-Employment:

Placement on the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
