Project Accountant

We’re looking for an experienced Project Accountant to join our Finance team, someone who’s energized to support the financial health of impactful roadway and active transportation projects from behind the scenes—bringing accuracy, insight, and operational excellence that helps our mission and values come to life.

What You’ll Do


You help manage the financial health of multiple projects from setup through closeout. You prepare invoices, monitor project performance by reviewing budgets and forecasting potential overruns, and create and maintain project accounts in our ERP system using established procedures. You manage unbilled work, support project setup and closeout, assist project managers with billing issues and collections, reconcile receipts and budgets, and communicate with project managers, clients, and subconsultants. You also compile information for internal and external auditors and contribute to staff trainings.

We are targeting a salary range of $74,000 to $84,000 for this position.

Requirements

What You Bring:

· A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent relevant experience in lieu of a degree

· Five or more years of project accounting experience

· A basic understanding of GAAP and experience analyzing project financial information

· Proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint or other job cost accounting software

· Experience reading and reviewing contracts

· Experience working with Departments of Transportation (DOTs); California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) experience is a plus

· Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet weekly and monthly deadlines

· Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

· Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to building relationships
