About the Role

Research Assistant Professor (26270087)

The School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) at Hong Kong Baptist University is seeking a high calibre Research Assistant Professor to join in the Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development (CDD), which is located in the Hong Kong Science Park.

 Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality and innovative research on the phytochemistry, formulation, and pharmacological mechanisms of CHM; 
  • Lead & participate in multiple interdisciplinary R&D projects to drive the translational development of CHM-based drug candidates;
  • Transfer academic knowledge into innovative technologies for impactful research outputs;
  • Supervise junior researchers and students; and
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceuticals, Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Product Chemistry, Pharmacology, or related disciplines, with postdoctoral research experience preferred;
  • Demonstrated expertise in CHM-based new drug R&D, spanning preparation processes, quality control, and pharmacological mechanisms;
  • Demonstrated capacity to independently design research protocols, interpret scientific findings, and maintain a strong publication record, and an established track record in obtaining external funding/research grants;
  • Innovative, self-motivated with good planning and organisational skills;
  • Team-oriented, with excellent communication skills; and
  • Good English communication skills and the ability to write clearly.

Work Location: Hong Kong Science Park and Hong Kong Baptist University

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract for up to three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
