Job Purpose


The Lead Detailer oversees day-to-day detail shop operations, guiding and supporting the detail team while performing interior and exterior cleaning services that meet company specifications. The Lead Detailer sets the standard for quality, helps train and coordinate the team, and ensures reconditioning goals and delivery timelines are met.


Essential Functions


• Lead, coordinate, and prioritize the daily workflow of the detail team to meet reconditioning goals and delivery deadlines

• Train, mentor, and support detailers; help onboard new team members and reinforce established detail procedures

• Perform quality control checks on completed units and coach team members on any corrections needed

• Clean RVs, travel trailers, and other large vehicles inside and out, including washing, vacuuming, steaming, and deodorizing interiors

• Apply waxes, polishes, and protective agents; operate buffers and polishers on units requiring paint correction or restoration

• Operate carpet shampooers, pressure washers, chemical mixing stations, standers, and other detail equipment

• Communicate with the Detail Manager on scheduling, staffing needs, and unit status

• Create and maintain a clean and safe work environment

• Report any damage found or caused to management

• Maintain dealership's standard of excellence in quality and service

• Notify management of any equipment in need of repair

• May perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned


Qualifications


• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Prior experience leading, training, or supervising a team strongly preferred

• Detailing experience required — RV, automotive, marine, or similar; comfort washing, waxing, and detailing new and used vehicles or units

• Buffing, waxing, and polishing experience is very important to this role and strongly preferred, though not strictly required for the right leader — we'll train a strong candidate who has the rest

• Valid Driver's License with a clean, insurable driving record

• Proven ability to work in all elements of weather

• Meticulous attention to detail and high quality standards

• Strong communication and team-leadership skills

• Uphold the company values that provide a positive culture and work environment

• Self-directed; able to manage priorities with minimal supervision

• Demonstrated history of reliability in attendance

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including walking, crouching, stooping, bending, and standing for extended periods of time

• May be requested to work atop unit rooftops and/or reach rooftops via scaffolding or ladder

• Will maintain safe working conditions by adhering to company safety policies and procedures


Supervisory Responsibilities


Leads and coordinates the daily work of the detail team; provides training, guidance, and quality-control feedback to detailers. Does not have hiring/firing or formal performance-review authority unless otherwise assigned by management.


Working Conditions


This position is exposed to outdoor environment weather elements and conditions. The position works around multiple moving small and large vehicles and forklifts. This position is exposed to chemicals used to clean the units.


Physical Requirements


Prolonged periods of physical activity including positioning self to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, and bend. The position may ascend/descend units and work atop slippery surfaces. May transport or move up to 25 lbs. and/or transport or move up to 50 lbs. with assistive devices. Vision requirements to view details at close range. Use of hands and arms handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating workspace. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided for use of chemicals including, but not limited to, respirator and safety glasses.
