Material Expediter

Description
We’re looking for a Material Expediter who can keep materials, equipment, and jobsite logistics moving across multiple active construction projects. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, understands construction materials and field operations, and can stay ahead of shortages, lead times, and scheduling needs to keep crews productive and projects on track.

Grounded in our faith-forward approach, we are committed to stewardship, operational excellence, and meaningful impact in the communities we serve.
We're not building an ordinary company — and we're not looking for ordinary leaders.
At our core, we believe great organizations are built by healthy, intentional, and high-character leaders. Culture isn't an afterthought here; it's our competitive advantage. We invest deeply in you because we know that when our people grow, the company grows.
What You’ll Do
- Order materials across concrete finishing, framing, siding, trim, and other construction scopes using established vendor and master pricing.
- Lock in project-specific pricing at award by confirming rates, quantities, lead times, and availability against project estimates and buyouts.
- Issue and manage purchase orders, verify vendor pricing, and flag discrepancies or changes to the Preconstruction Manager.
- Coordinate long-lead materials including trusses, engineered lumber, specialty siding, and ready-mix concrete.
- Support project buyout by providing vendor availability, pricing, and lead-time information.
- Coordinate material needs including concrete supplies, lumber packages, engineered lumber, trusses, sheathing, siding, house wrap, flashing, trim, doors, hardware, fasteners, and specialty materials.
- Manage heavy equipment across active jobsites, including telehandlers/lulls, backhoes, excavators, skid steers, and other equipment required by field teams.
- Coordinate equipment rentals, transportation, mobilization and demobilization, fuel, servicing, and maintenance.
- Track equipment location and utilization and coordinate movement between jobsites as project priorities change.
- Sequence and schedule deliveries around construction schedules, crew readiness, jobsite access, and available staging areas.
- Coordinate ready-mix deliveries closely with scheduled concrete pours.
- Maintain regular communication with suppliers, vendors, equipment yards, and trucking or hauling providers.
- Receive and verify materials against purchase orders and packing slips and resolve damaged, missing, or incorrect deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, delivery tickets, rental agreements, hauling documentation, and invoices.
- Support accounting with invoice reconciliation and job- and trade-specific cost coding.
- Maintain material and equipment tracking logs and provide regular updates to the Preconstruction Manager.
- Help minimize material waste, equipment downtime, and costs outside of established project buyouts.
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in construction, supply chain, logistics, or a related field is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in construction material handling, procurement, expediting, or a related role; multi-trade construction experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of construction materials and jobsite operations, particularly concrete, framing, siding, and trim.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment such as telehandlers, backhoes, excavators, and skid steers, including equipment transportation and rental logistics.
- Ability to read construction plans, material takeoffs, estimates, and project buyouts.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage priorities across multiple active jobsites.
- Strong vendor communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to address shortages, scheduling conflicts, and delivery issues quickly.
- Proficiency with email, spreadsheets, and ordering or inventory management systems.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record with the ability to travel regularly between jobsites.
- Ability to lift up to 50–75 pounds and work safely in an active construction environment.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and stand, walk, bend, load/unload, and move throughout jobsites for extended periods.
