EDC provides free legal representation, rental assistance, and shelter client advocacy to help prevent eviction and homelessness. JOB SUMMARY

The Data Analyst is a member of EDC's Data Division and is responsible for supporting the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and reporting readiness of data entered by EDC programs and partner Legal Service Organizations (LSOs). The Data Analyst reviews reports, identifies missing or inaccurate information, follows up with staff and partner organizations regarding data corrections, and supports the preparation of monthly funder reporting submissions, including data prepared for upload to the City's GMS portal.


The Data Analyst works collaboratively with internal departments, including TRC, Litigation, RADCo, SCA, and future programs, while also supporting assigned partner LSOs. The role is designed to begin with established procedures and close supervision, with the expectation that the Data Analyst will develop increasing independence, technical proficiency, and reporting knowledge over time.


This position helps maintain high-quality data for funder reporting, audits, organizational planning, and program operations. The Data Analyst is expected to identify recurring data-quality, reporting, timeliness, system, and process issues and escalate significant or ongoing concerns to the Data Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

Data Quality & Compliance Monitoring Duties (40%):

  • Review assigned program and LSO reports for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and reporting readiness.
  • Monitor required MOHCD and funder data elements, including required data points, representation activities on open cases, and outcomes on closed cases.
  • Identify missing, incomplete, inaccurate, duplicate, or untimely records and document follow-up needs.
  • Communicate professionally with EDC staff and assigned LSOs regarding missing or corrected data.
  • Make approved data corrections directly when appropriate and within established guidelines.
  • Escalate unresolved, significant, or recurring data issues to the Data Supervisor.

Funder Reporting & Data Preparation Duties (30%):

  • Download, validate, and prepare monthly data extracts from partner LSOs and EDC programs for funder reporting.
  • Assist with preparation of data for upload to GMS and other funder portal sites.
  • Check reports throughout the month so that missing data can be addressed before submission deadlines.
  • Support audit preparation, contract monitoring, and funder reporting reviews by ensuring records are accurate and upload ready.
  • Maintain tracking materials, checklists, and documentation related to reporting deadlines and correction follow-up.

System & Process Improvement Duties (20%):

  • Identify recurring data quality issues, reporting deficiencies, and timeliness concerns across assigned programs and LSOs.
  • Flag Salesforce/JusticeServer fields, reports, workflows, or processes that appear to create confusion or repeated errors.
  • Identify staff or LSO training needs and communicate patterns to the Data Supervisor.
  • Recommend practical improvements to data collection, reporting workflows, and review procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining and improving written procedures, reporting checklists, and data-quality guidance materials.

Departmental Collaboration & Special Projects Duties (10%):

  • Support TRC, Litigation, RADCo, SCA, and other EDC programs as assigned by the Data Supervisor.
  • Serve as a resource for basic reporting and data-quality questions from internal staff and assigned LSOs.
  • Participate in Data Division meetings, program check-ins, and cross-functional projects as needed.
  • Provide backup coverage for other Data Analysts and assigned programs/LSOs when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the role and EDC's mission.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working with databases, spreadsheets, reports, case management systems, or other structured data sources.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (data management, formulas & functions, reporting and analysis and others).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to review large amounts of information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to follow established procedures, use checklists, and meet recurring reporting deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to follow up professionally regarding missing or corrected information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, track outstanding items, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and care.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a community-based nonprofit, legal services organization, government-funded program, social services environment, housing program, healthcare navigation program, education program, or other direct-service setting.
  • Experience supporting reporting, compliance, grants management, auditing, quality assurance, or data-quality initiatives.
  • Experience with Salesforce, case management or customer relationship management database.
  • Experience with importing data into CRM systems.
  • Experience preparing, modifying, and running reports for program operations, funder reporting, or compliance review.
  • Familiarity with documentation requirements, funder reporting, service delivery data, or collaborative partner reporting structures.

 

Required Skills

  • Ability to learn Salesforce reports, filters, fields, and related data structures.
  • Ability to run existing reports and, over time, modify report filters, columns, and formats as needed.

Union

EDC staff are represented by the National Organization of Legal Services Workers (NOLSW, UAW Local 2320, AFL‑CIO). This position is a union position and is subject to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

Salary Determination

EDC uses a step system for all union employees. New employees are placed on the salary scale based on relevant work experience from the past nine years. Please include all relevant experience in your application and resume so EDC can determine your appropriate salary step.


Working conditions

This role involves handling sensitive and confidential information and requires professionalism, empathy, and the ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics. Some evening or weekend work may be required.

This is a hybrid role. Employees may be able to work from home two (2) regularly scheduled days a week after thirty (30) days of employment. Staff must remain responsive during standard business hours while working remotely.


Work from home schedules shall be established in consultation with the Employee’s supervisor and approved by Program Directors and/or Human Resources.
