About the Role
Technical Project Manager
This position is for an organized and proactive technical person with project management experience in engineering and/or a related field. Breadth across meteorology, engineering, and/or radar systems is valued more than depth in a single specialty.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage assigned radar programs end to end, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and deliverables from award through final acceptance.
Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, implementation plans, and milestone tracking for radar installations, retrofits, tower and radome work, and maintenance contracts.
Serve as primary point of contact for customers, primes, and government sponsors, providing status reporting, change notification, and coordination of site access and readiness.
Track contract deliverables, submittals, test plans and procedures, and acceptance documentation, ensuring on-time submission and compliance with contract terms.
Coordinate field service mobilization, including trip planning, site logistics, permits, import and export documentation, and travel for installation and maintenance teams.
Maintain project cost and revenue recognition inputs and coordinate invoicing against milestones with accounting.
Identify schedule and technical risks early, drive mitigation with Engineering and Production, and escalate with recommended options.
Maintain project documentation, meeting minutes, action item logs, and lessons learned in accordance with company standards.
Desired Experience and Skills:
Education and Experience in Project Management, Engineering, or Technical Field - Typically 3 or more years managing technical hardware or field installation projects, preferably construction, telecommunications, or electromechanical systems.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field is desired. Relevant experience may be substituted.
Technical literacy – Ability to understand weather radar hardware and software at a high level as required to have credible technical conversation with engineers, technicians, and customers.
Government and prime contractor program experience - Deliverable schedules, CDRLs or equivalent submittals, and formal acceptance testing.
International project experience - Export documentation, in-country partners, and multi-time-zone coordination.
Tools and communication - Proficiency with scheduling and project tracking tools (MS Project, Sharepoint, Jira, HubSpot) and strong written status reporting.
Travel – 15% or less travel is expected for this position.
Work Location – This is an onsite role in Huntsville, AL. After an initial training period of approximately 90 days, a hybrid schedule may be available depending on program demands and performance.
This role may support future programs requiring a security clearance. Ability to obtain one is a plus.
