About the Role

Description

The Product Engineer I (ME-Based) is responsible for supporting the design, development, and sustaining of passive RF and millimeter wave products, including antennas and subassemblies. This role focuses on mechanical design, manufacturability, and product performance by collaborating closely with electrical engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams. The Product Engineer I takes ownership of assigned products, supports prototype builds and production transitions, and contributes to design improvements through testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.


Responsibilities

  • Exhibit abilities in design, testing, and troubleshooting the company’s passive components, including passive antennas and/or sub-assemblies with electrical engineering background engineers’ support.
  • Design, review, and support 40% of the company product offerings in either discipline.
  • Use test equipment and set up for new product testing.
  • Perform design review (DR).
  • Test, tune, troubleshoot, and document manufacturing procedures for first article (FA) prototypes.
  • Release design documents, including design review packages, drawings, bill of materials (BOM), routers, working instructions, test reports, product datasheets, etc. to configuration management (CM) and the Document Control (DC) department for control and documentation.
  • Provide sustaining engineering support to manufacturing and QA staff for FA prototype transition, manufacturing troubleshooting, work cell and process development, and after sale RMA tasks – Failure Analysis Report (FAR), Corrective Action Report (CAR), and Waiver Request Form, etc.
  • Take ownership of products. When troubleshooting, drive for permanent elimination of root cause.
  • Manage, prioritize, and execute multiple product development projects at one time. Effectively communicate progress with supervisor.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 1 to 3 years of relevant technical experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in relevant test equipment including, but not limited to, scalar and vector network analyzers, signal generators, power meters, spectrum analyzers, and antenna ranges, etc.
  • Familiar with microwave-industry material properties and their manufacturing processes and limitations while designing products.
  • Understanding manufacturing equipment and process limitations and their RF performance impact while creating product designs.
  • Proficient in relevant mechanical design software: Solidworks and Draftsight.
  • Basic understanding of PCB layout tools, such as DipTrace and CNC CAM program.
  • Highly prefer experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Basic knowledge of working principles of passive RF/microwave/millimeter wave components and antennas and their applications.
  • Team player, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship or hands-on experience in mechanical design, RF product development, or precision manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with RF/microwave components, antenna structures, and their mechanical design considerations
  • Experience supporting prototype builds, first article development, or new product introduction (NPI)
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
  • Exposure to machining processes, tolerancing, and material selection for high-frequency applications
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality
  • Familiarity with configuration management and engineering documentation processes
  • Basic exposure to RF simulation tools or PCB layout environments
