Founded in 1901, the Northern California Golf Association is the largest allied golf association in the United States. The NCGA has roughly 200,000 members who belong to more than 1,300 member clubs throughout Northern California. The NCGA vision is “to ensure the game is vibrant, inclusive, and accessible” and is focused on enhancing the lives of Northern California golfers by helping them enjoy the benefits of golf for a lifetime. As a key partner with the USGA, the NCGA provides its members with official handicap indexes and helps oversee several critical governance areas for the game of golf. The NCGA owns and operates two golf courses (Poppy Hills and Poppy Ridge), conducts more than 650 days of golf events each year, including championships and competitive golf tournaments for all abilities, and casual golf outings and trips. The NCGA also publishes NCGA Golf digital magazine and secures exclusive member discounts on products and services. The NCGA Foundation, which originally created Youth on Course, has evolved and the NCGA is also the sole member of the NCGA Foundation, which is aimed at growing the game and supporting the golf community throughout Northern California.
Position: Senior Manager, Business Analytics & Modeling
Status: Exempt
Reports to: Chief Technology Officer
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Business Analytics & Modeling is a key strategic partner responsible for acquiring and turning business data (including but not limited to membership, participation, and financial data) into actionable insights that drive growth, retention, operational efficiency and satisfaction. This role leads the design and delivery of analytical frameworks, forecasting models, and performance dashboards that inform decisions across the organization, especially around GPS (growth, participation and satisfaction). This position will receive regular guidance and is expected to work collaboratively with other members of the consolidated NCGA organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain the analytical models that underpin strategic planning across the NCGA:
- Membership modeling — acquisition funnel models, cohort retention curves, churn propensity models, and lifetime value models
- Financial modeling — driver-based revenue and expense models, budget-vs-actual variance models, and multi-year forecast models
- Operational modeling — scenario and sensitivity analysis, and growth models for membership initiatives
- Partner with marketing, membership, operations and finance teams to identify data needs and translate them into analytical solutions
- Design and maintain executive-level dashboards and reporting tools that surface KPIs and trends in real time
- Work with marketing to evaluate the effectiveness of member acquisition and engagement programs, including A/B testing and attribution analysis
- Conduct segmentation and cohort analyses to identify growth and efficiency opportunities within and across member segments and operations
- Partner with customer service to conduct NPS surveys and leverage the data/insights to improve satisfaction scores
- Present findings and recommendations clearly to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in analytics, statistics, economics, business, or a related quantitative field
- Experience in business analytics, data science, or a related field; membership or subscription-based organization experience a strong plus
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
- Strong financial modeling skills; comfortable building and stress-testing models
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear narratives and recommendations
- Experience with CRM or membership management platforms (HubSpot experience a significant plus)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to present information clearly to various stakeholders with various levels of expertise.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- High degree of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MBA or other advanced degree regarding business analytics.
- Knowledge of and passion for the game of golf (strongly preferred).
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Monday through Friday, standard business hours
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This is a full-time, Exempt position, with a targeted salary of $90,000 to $100,000 annually. Some clothing will be provided, with the employee expected to source and maintain a high-standard of attire at all times. Benefit package includes health, dental and vision insurance. Dependents may be added with premiums paid by the employee. Participation in the company’s 401k plan, including company match after one full year of employment. PTO, holidays, meals, and golf benefits also included.
