Lab Assistant Phlebotomist (4441) FAMILY/INTERNAL MEDICINE WOODF

SUMMARY: 

The Laboratory Assistant, under direction of the Ancillary and Support Services Supervisor, enhances and extends the productivity of Medical Technologists by performing patient accommodative services including phlebotomy, specimen receipt, processing and referral, and technical procedures as assigned; assumes other duties and responsibilities as directed by Supervisor. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent; courses in medical terminology and/or laboratory testing procedures or two years previous experience; one year experience in processing testing or specimen receipt; or combination of two years experience as phlebotomist, laboratory aide/processor or handler. 

PHYSICAL GUIDELINES: 

Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; exposure to hazardous/bio-hazardous materials; manual dexterity and motor coordination; visual acuity; distinguish colors; maneuver objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
