Senior SMT Process Engineer

The selected candidate will be given with the opportunity to lead and optimize Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing processes to ensure high product quality, stable yields, and efficient production. This role provides technical leadership in process development, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to support business objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- Own and manage end-to-end SMT processes including solder paste printing, component placement, reflow soldering, SPI, AOI, and related inspection systems
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve process parameters, control limits, and operating windows
- Lead yield improvement initiatives and defect reduction through structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone, DOE, SPC, JMP)
- Drive new product introduction (NPI) readiness by providing input on stencil design, penalization, process flow, and manufacturability (DFM/DFA/FMEA/RCA)
- Conduct process qualifications and validations to ensure robustness and repeatability
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing KPIs (FPY, DPPM, Cp/Cpk, scrap, rework) and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Act as the technical escalation point for SMT-related issues during production interruptions or quality excursions
- Develop, maintain, and control documentation such as SOPs, Work Instructions, PFMEA, Control Plans, and technical reports
- Provide coaching and technical mentorship to junior engineers and technicians
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Production, Test, APTE, and Supply Chain teams to resolve cross-functional issues
- Support customer quality concerns related to SMT processes and provide technical input for root cause and corrective actions
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through material optimization, waste reduction, and process efficiency improvements
- Support qualification and evaluation of new materials, equipment, and suppliers
- Participate in internal, customer, and external audits (ISO, IATF, customer audits) as subject matter expert for SMT processes
- Contribute to technology roadmap planning by recommending new tools, equipment, and process innovations
