Quality Engineer

Description
Assists in developing and analyzing high volume heat treatment and phosphate coating processes for the treatment of steel bar, castings and forgings, which entails applying the principles of deformation processes, thermodynamics of materials, kinetics and diffusion and material selection; developing quality control methods and conducting statistical analysis on various processes and methods; and using various heat treatment processes including annealing, normalizing, hardening and tempering, austempering and phosphate coating; and using inspection equipment such as optical microscopes, image analyzers, Brinell & Rockwell hardness testers, microhardness testers and metallographic equipment. Maintain and assist in maintenance of the IATF 16949 Quality Management System. Provide employee training, address customer concerns and prepare reports.
Requirements
- Problem solving skills using Fishbone diagram, 8D, 5 Why etc.
- Ability to use SPC effectively for process improvements.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Plex preferred.
- Must be able to use higher mathematics involving engineering principles
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor in Metallurgy or Materials Science with emphasis in Ferrous Metallurgy and/or equivalent years of experience.
- One to five years of experience in developing and analyzing heat treatment processes; and conducting statistical analysis and
- quality assurance.
- Preferred have experience with each of the following; microstructure analysis and development of heat treatment cycles, optical microscopes, Brinell and Rockwell testers; mechanical testing to various international standards.
