Hours: Full-time, 7am-7pm (12/hr shifts and every third weekend)

Responsibilities

  • Provides direction and supervision of unlicensed assistive personnel (i.e. Patient Care Technician), demonstrates clinical judgment appropriate for Iowa’s LPN scope of practice, uses problem solving techniques and time-management principles, and delegates appropriately.
  • Assists in creating a positive work environment by working with team members to develop and facilitate initiatives to strive for positive outcomes in quality and care of patients. Effectively communicates with all team members, physicians, ancillary staff and all customers.
  • Complies with all policies and procedures, and guides team members with compliance. Maintains a safe and clean environment, complies with all safety goals, infection prevention and risk management policies and procedures.

 

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Iowa.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire. 
  • Must obtain and maintain NIHSS education prior to end of orientation and complete every 2 years 
  • Completion of eight hours of strokeeducation prior to the end of orientation and annually

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
  • Multicultural sensitivity.
  • Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.
  • Customer/patient focused.
  • Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
