About the Role

Overview

The Senior Director of Merchandising, Fresh Categories is responsible for the Deli, Produce, Meat, and Seafood departments. They provide leadership and direction for merchandisers in each of these areas and work collaboratively with store management to ensure the success of those departments.

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the overall profitability of the areas assigned.
  • Responsible for business planning in those areas including goal setting, project sponsorship, team resource allocation, and budgeting.
  • Represents PCC in distributor and key vendor negotiations.
  • Leads private label development for these departments.
  • Develops and assures implementation of merchandising standards.
  • Oversees quality control of products and programs in these areas.
  • Provides leadership, direction, mentoring, and development for team.
  • Drives promotional activity and ad planning.
  • This position works consistently at a light physical work level and may be asked to work on occasion at a medium or heavy physical work level when supporting stores or other offsite events. Frequently required to sit, walk, reach, and grasp. Occasionally required to be on feet with a mix of standing and walking throughout shift.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of grocery industry experience.  
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with a multi-unit retailer
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience
  • Previous accountability for financial results including sales, margin, and shrink
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft office applications.

  • Natural and organic food experience
  • Experience in food commissary production and distribution logistics

Physical and Environmental Workspace

Work occurs in an office, a variety of off-site environments and in a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise level, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer, and depending on location, working outside in all temperatures. There may be exposure to certain allergens and / or chemicals. Comp Details

Starting Wage Range: $165,000-$185,000/year, depending on experience. Bonus Eligible
