About the Role

Work Location: European Union, remote

Engagement Model: Freelancer / Independent Contractor

Project Duration: 3 months (with potential extension)

Work Schedule: Flexible hours, based on the applicant's availability

Language Skills Required: English; additional EU language preferred

DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking experienced EU Legal Subject Matter Experts specializing in the EU AI Act, GDPR, data privacy, and cross-border regulation.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of European digital regulation and be able to translate complex regulatory frameworks into structured legal reasoning suitable for AI model training.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide legal expertise relating to the EU AI Act, GDPR, data governance, privacy, and cross-border regulatory requirements.

  • Analyze obligations for controllers, processors, AI providers, deployers, and other regulated entities.

  • Review privacy notices, data-processing agreements, compliance assessments, and regulatory documentation.

  • Research EU legislation, European Commission materials, EDPB guidance, and CJEU decisions.

  • Validate AI datasets involving regulatory interpretation and compliance scenarios.

  • Identify legal inaccuracies, hallucinations, and jurisdiction-specific errors in AI-generated responses.

  • Develop structured legal reasoning and evaluation criteria.

  • Support prompt engineering for privacy, regulatory, and AI governance use cases.

Role Requirements

  • Licensed Attorney, JD/LL.M. graduate, Senior Legal Researcher, Privacy Professional, or experienced Paralegal.

  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant legal or regulatory experience.

  • Strong knowledge of GDPR, EU digital regulation, and cross-border data protection.

  • Familiarity with the EU AI Act strongly preferred.

  • Excellent English.

  • Additional EU language proficiency preferred.

  • Strong statutory analysis, regulatory research, citation verification, and drafting skills.

  • CIPP/E or similar privacy certification is a plus.

  • Familiarity with AI governance and responsible Generative AI practices is highly desirable.
