REPORTS TO: FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER / FOOD AND BEVERAGE DIRECTOR


POSITION SUMMARY

The Runner/Expo plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional dining and event experience by ensuring the accurate, timely, and professional delivery of food to Members and Guests. This position serves as a key communication link between the Culinary and front-of-house teams and is responsible for maintaining food quality, presentation standards, and service efficiency. The Runner/Expo also supports Club functions, banquets, Member events, tournaments, and special events by coordinating and delivering food, assisting with event service, and supporting setup and breakdown as operational needs require. This position contributes to the overall Member experience through attentiveness, professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to service excellence while upholding the high standards associated with a premier private club environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Provide exceptional hospitality and service support to Members and Guests at all times.

· Maintain a thorough knowledge of menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, daily specials, and presentation standards.

· Verify food orders for completeness, accuracy, presentation, and special requests before leaving the kitchen.

· Coordinate food delivery to ensure proper timing and efficient service.

· Deliver food promptly and professionally while maintaining presentation standards.

· Communicate effectively between culinary and front-of-house teams regarding orders, modifications, allergies, and special requests.

· Assist Servers in providing exceptional dining experiences by anticipating service needs.

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of expo stations, service areas, and food delivery equipment.

· Ensure food is served at the proper temperature and according to established standards.

· Assist with setup and breakdown of dining rooms, banquet spaces, patios, and special events.

· Support banquet, tournament, and special event operations as needed.

· Assist with opening and closing duties according to established procedures.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.

· Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures in accordance with Riverside County Food Handler requirements.

· Support a safe working environment and immediately report unsafe conditions.

· Report to work as scheduled, in proper uniform, and prepared to perform assigned duties.

· Follow Club policies, procedures, and service standards.

· Communicate effectively with management and fellow Team Members to ensure exceptional Member experiences.

· Greet Members promptly and professionally when delivering food or assisting with service.

· Perform additional duties as assigned.


BANQUET & SPECIAL EVENT SUPPORT

· Support the Banquet and Events Team in the execution of Club functions, Member events, private parties, tournaments, holiday events, and other special events as assigned.

· Assist with event setup and breakdown, including food service stations, expo areas, buffet and action stations, service equipment, trays, serviceware, and other food service-related supplies.

· Coordinate with Culinary, Banquet, and Food & Beverage Team Members to ensure food is delivered to event locations accurately, efficiently, and according to established service timing.

· Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), function sheets, menus, event timelines, dietary accommodations, and service instructions as directed to understand food service requirements and special requests.

· Verify banquet and event food for accuracy, presentation, proper accompaniments, dietary requirements, and completeness before it leaves the kitchen or designated expo area.

· Deliver plated meals, trays, and other food items to designated tables, stations, or service areas while maintaining appropriate food quality, temperature, presentation, and service standards.

· Assist Servers and Banquet Team Members during event service by anticipating food service needs, communicating changes or delays, and supporting efficient service flow.

· Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked expo and food service areas throughout Club functions and special events.

· Assist with post-event breakdown, including clearing and returning trays, service equipment, serviceware, and supplies to designated areas and preparing service and expo areas for subsequent operations.

· Remain flexible in assigned duties and service areas based on operational and event needs, including providing support outside of regularly assigned restaurant, kitchen, or expo areas.

· Consistently deliver gracious, attentive, and personalized service to Members and Guests.

· Maintain a polished, professional, and courteous demeanor at all times.

· Learn and recognize Member names whenever possible.

· Anticipate service needs and proactively assist Servers, Bartenders, and fellow Team Members.

· Build positive relationships with Members while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

· Avoid overly familiar, inappropriate, or unprofessional interactions while on duty.

· Demonstrate discretion and confidentiality regarding Member information and Club operations.

· Ensure all food leaving the kitchen meets established quality and presentation standards.

· Understand proper food handling, transportation, and service procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous hospitality, restaurant, club, resort, or food and beverage experience preferred.

• Current Riverside County Food Handler Card.

• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with Members, Guests, and Team Members.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

• Ability to remain standing and walking for extended periods, up to 8 hours or more.

• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, twist, and perform repetitive movements.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

• Ability to transport food trays, beverage trays, dish racks, service equipment, and supplies safely and efficiently.

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and rain.

• Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

• Maintain a polished and professional appearance in accordance with Club grooming and uniform standards.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Hospitality, food safety, or service-related certifications are beneficial.

• Commitment to delivering exceptional Member service and maintaining luxury hospitality standards. 


Work Authorization/Security Clearance 

• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standing and walking continuously throughout the shift while coordinating food delivery and supporting dining room operations.

• Carrying food trays, plates, serving equipment, and supplies throughout dining rooms, patios, banquet spaces, and other Club facilities.

• Reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching to retrieve food items, stock service stations, organize expo areas, and maintain operational efficiency.

• Using hands and fingers continuously to handle food trays, plates, serving utensils, service equipment, kitchen tickets, and other food service-related items.

• Communicating with Members, Guests, Servers, Bartenders, culinary staff, and fellow Team Members to coordinate food delivery, special requests, dietary accommodations, and service timing.

• Reading kitchen tickets, menus, event orders, service instructions, and other operational documents requiring close and distance vision.

• Identifying food items, garnishes, table numbers, service areas, special dietary requests, and potential safety hazards requiring depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling food trays, beverage trays, dish racks, service equipment, and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

• Working indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, wind, and other weather conditions associated with Club operations and special events.

• Maintaining awareness of food quality, presentation standards, service timing, dining room activity, and Member needs while performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced hospitality environment.


Work Environment 

This job operates in a professional private club and food service environment. The Runner/Expo regularly works between kitchen, dining, banquet, patio, and special event areas while coordinating food delivery and supporting Culinary and front-of-house operations. The position involves frequent interaction with Members, Guests, and Team Members and regular exposure to kitchen equipment, hot food and surfaces, temperature changes, and fast-paced service conditions. Service areas may include restaurants, banquet spaces, Clubhouse exterior grounds, private event locations, and other areas throughout the Club.
