About the Role
Description
Summary of Job Description: provide seasonal assistance to O’Connor & Associates’ clients in order to help homeowners lower their property taxes through the appeals process at various Appraisal Districts.
FLSA Status: Salary, nonexempt (eligible for overtime)
Job Responsibilities:
- Review homeowner and tax roll documentation and local area research
- Research each client’s account with specialized programs
- Communicate with assigned Appraisal District personnel regarding hearing process/methodology
- Communicate with clients and customer service staff on all hearing matters
- Participate in ARB hearings in person, via telephone conference or by affidavit submission
- Negotiate lowering the property’s assessed value
- Conduct formal and informal hearings at Appraisal District
- Travel to surrounding counties to participate in hearings
- Manage portfolio for client values $750K-$1Ml
- Prepare and present files to be heard in arbitration hearings
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Active broker, sales or appraiser license; CPA or attorney (in TX) preferred, but not required.
- 2+ years of recent Real Estate activity preferred
- Basic knowledge of how real estate is valued/commercial a plus
- Will consider unlicensed professionals in other areas of profession
- Bachelor’s Degree or some college preferred
- Powerful and effective communication, persuasion and negotiation skills
- Ability to do multiple tasks simultaneously and continually meet objectives
- Strong work ethic demonstrated through attendance and work performance
- Must be available to work core business hours plus evenings, weekends and holidays during the peak season
- Ability to travel to surrounding counties
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work in fast paced environment
** Company willing to pay training fees for qualified individuals
- We provide you with a portfolio of clients and access to computers and research material. As needed, the company will pay for any continuing education courses required to obtain a Property Tax Consultant license.
- We provide a competitive salary, plus commission based on the percent of reductions made.
