Position Overview:
We are looking for a dock supervisor to oversee the loading and unloading of cargo at our terminal. The dock supervisor is responsible for managing the dock workers, ensuring safety and quality standards, and coordinating with other departments such as logistics, operations, and customer service.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in dock supervision, warehouse management, or similar roles. You will also have excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong knowledge of dock equipment and procedures. You will be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising the dock workers and assigning them to different tasks
- Monitoring the loading and unloading of cargo and verifying the accuracy of documents
- Ensuring compliance with safety and quality regulations and policies
- Troubleshooting any issues or delays that may arise on the dock
- Communicating with other departments and external parties such as truck drivers, vendors, and customers
- Providing feedback and training to the dock workers and evaluating their performance
- Maintaining records and reports of dock activities and inventory
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience in dock supervision, warehouse management, or similar roles
- Knowledge of dock equipment and procedures, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and scanners
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
