Security Clearance: Secret, with ability to obtain Top Secret


The Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) works onsite at our Tampa, FL office and supports the Corporate Facility Security Officer (FSO) in managing all aspects of industrial security compliance under 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM Rule). This role ensures the protection of classified information, oversees personnel security actions, and maintains compliance with government security directives. The AFSO works closely with internal teams, government customers, and Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) representatives. The AFSO assumes FSO responsibilities in the FSO’s absence. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Personnel Security — Manage clearance actions in DISS, initiate and review eAPPs, track 5-year validations, and process visit requests.
  • NISPOM Compliance — Support implementation of 32 CFR Part 117 requirements, assist with DCSA assessments, and assist with internal self-inspections.
  • Customer Support — Process and track CAC issuance and handle DD 254s for all classified contracts
  • Classified Material Control — Maintain accountability of classified holdings, manage safe inventories, and ensure proper storage, transmission, and destruction procedures.
  • Physical & Access Control — Support badge issuance, visitor control, alarm response procedures, and facility access.
  • Incident and SEAD 3 Reporting — Assist with reporting security violations, suspicious contacts, self-reporting, and foreign travel.
  • Documentation & Records — Maintain accurate logs, security files, training records, and compliance documentation.
  • COMSEC Account — Serve as Alternate COMSEC Custodian.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • 2-5 years of experience in industrial security or related field
  • Working knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM Rule
  • Working knowledge of DISS and eAPP
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and work independently, proactively, and efficiently
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Top Secret security clearance
  • Prior work in a cleared defense contractor environment
  • Completion of FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities
  • Experience with COMSEC

Salary Range:

The proposed salary range is reflective across all Sherpa 6 locations, years of experience, and skill levels. Salary negotiations will be based on a host of factors including but not limited to your geographic location, prior experience, relevant skills, education, and certifications.
