About the Role

Overview

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS), a nonprofit founded in 1943, has grown to be the largest provider of licensed outpatient community mental health services and one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester County. We provide state-of-the-art programs and services and compassionate care to more than 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds each year.


We are currently seeking a full-time Facilities Maintenance Mechanic. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that WJCS facilities are safe, secure, and well-maintained. This position requires hands-on experience with a wide range of building systems, repairs, and preventative maintenance.  The compensation is $56,160 per year and the schedule is Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm.


Responsibilities

As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • The inspection, maintenance, and repair of multiple building systems and structures, including:
    • Fire & burglar
    • HVAC – basic troubleshooting; filter changes
    • Mechanical – pumps, motors, ventilation units
    • Equipment – water heaters, washers/dryers
    • Elevator rooms – basic upkeep
    • Plumbing – unclogging, leak repair, fixture installation
    • Electrical – outlet repairs, lighting
    • Carpentry - framing, drywall
    • Appliance removal and installation
    • Roofing & gutter maintenance
    • Landscaping and yard maintenance
    • Decking, steps, and railings repair
    • Floor removal and installation (including vinyl, tile, and other materials)
    • Vinyl siding repair and installation
    • Window/door/key & lock installation


  • Available to work evenings or weekends as needed.


Requirements

We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Able to lift 50+ pounds
  • Team player with strong time management skills
  • Customer service oriented with professional demeanor
