About the Role

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in patient care? UPMC Williamsport is seeking a dedicated and passionate full-time Respiratory Therapist (0.9 or 1.0 FTE) to join our team. This role involves working rotating shifts, including every other weekend and holiday, ensuring our patients receive exceptional care around the clock.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies.
  • Equipment Management: Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators and therapeutic gas administration apparatus.
  • Clinical Assessment: Evaluate medical orders, interpret clinical data, and monitor patient responses to optimize treatment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Education and Supervision: Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees and supervise students during their training.

Qualifications

  • Education: Relevant certifications and degrees in respiratory therapy.
  • Experience: All levels of experience are welcome, from new graduates to seasoned professionals.
  • Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, ability to operate and maintain respiratory therapy equipment, and excellent communication abilities.

Graduate of a Co ARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program required Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required,

 Basic Life Support or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation required.

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. Respiratory therapists who receive their RRT credential from the NBRC after July 1, 2002, are required to maintain certification under the NBRC requirements

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Osteopathic Respiratory Care OR Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
