Job Title: Estimator

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Company Overview:

Maddox provides specialized cryogenic and mechanical services for air separation/cryogenic systems, industrial process piping, fabrication, installation, construction, maintenance, confined space rescue for air separation, wastewater/water treatment, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, chemical, and other process industries.

TransTech is a leading provider of engineered equipment and solutions for processing, storing, distributing, and utilizing a wide variety of liquids and gases in the energy, renewables, chemical, and industrial end markets.  TransTech designs and manufactures ASME pressure vessels, API storage tanks, TEMA heat exchangers, packaged process equipment, reactors, distillation columns, and other custom designed applications.  Our design, construction, and field service capabilities include gas processing, storage, and utilization projects in energy, power, industrial, and biogas markets. Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Live by our safety culture always, pursing our goal of zero accidents.
  2. Works with and reports to the project management team and communicates directly with customers throughout the RFQ and RFI process. 
  3. Receives and preps bid packages including printing, filing, organizing, and storing.
  4. Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documents to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for customers. Prepare clear, complete, and accurate plan of action for the specific project. Including manpower allocation, equipment needed, schedule a value and all submittals.
  5. Perform accurate material quantity takeoffs and send out to vendors for material pricing.
  6. Review and understand all bid documents, assess project risks, and prepare bid packages. 
  7. Ensure accuracy of all components of estimating spreadsheets including labor hours, labor rates, internal cost allocations, assumption, material, transportation, and all buyout services.
  8. Manage delivery (and installation, if required) on projects.
  9. Ability to generate project scheduled preferably MS projects.
  10. Manage customer expectations through communication of capabilities, capacities, lead times, and quotes.
  11. Strategically evaluate with senior management and project managers profit margin potential, project risks, project fit, and competitive environment.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 Requirements:

  1. Prefer 3-5+ years’ experience as Construction Estimator
  2. Ability to read and understand general construction plans and drawings.
  3. Experience with MS Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 
  4. Experience with PDF review / editing software (Acrobat).
  5. Ability to use CAD software with 3D modeling preferred. Ability to take structural concepts and create drawings for shop use required.
  6. Demonstrated initiative, conflict resolution, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  7. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
