Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM; Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM

No nights or weekends | Paid every Friday!

Southern Lumber & Millwork is hiring a Bilingual Building Materials Customer Sales Specialist for our Charleston, SC retail team. This customer-facing position helps local contractors, builders, remodelers, and homeowners purchase the right materials for their projects.

You will work with customers at our sales counter, by phone, and through email. Daily conversations may involve lumber, moulding, millwork, construction materials, product availability, pricing, orders, payments, and returns.

Knowledge of building materials is helpful but not required. We are prepared to train someone who brings excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in learning our products.

Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are strongly preferred.

Your Responsibilities

• Assist customers with product selection, pricing, and availability. 

• Prepare, enter, and update customer orders accurately. 

• Process purchases, returns, payments, and account inquiries. 

• Build trusted relationships with Charleston-area contractors and homeowners. 

• Respond promptly to phone, email, and in-person questions. 

• Monitor order details to support accurate, timely fulfillment. 

• Resolve customer concerns with patience and professionalism. 

• Keep the retail sales area organized and welcoming. 

What We’re Looking For

• Strong customer service and communication skills 

• Ability to learn construction products and sales software 

• Careful attention to order details 

• Confidence in handling several customer needs at once 

• Dependable, team-oriented approach 

• Retail, inside sales, customer service, hardware, home improvement, or building supply experience is helpful 

• English and Spanish fluency is strongly preferred
