About the Role

Description

The Electrical/Software Engineer supports the New Deantronics’ robotic systems by integrating electrical architecture, wiring, controls, software, test setups, troubleshooting, and functional evaluation. This role ensures prototype systems can be powered, controlled, tested, and debugged safely and reliably, with a primary focus on user interface and user hand control integration.


What You'll Do

  • Review and support electrical system architecture, wiring diagrams, schematics, controls hardware, sensors, motors, power supplies, and communication interfaces.
  • Support software and controls integration for prototype robotic system operation.
  • Assist with setup of electrical test benches, development computers, data acquisition tools, and debugging equipment.
  • Support wiring, cable routing, connector selection, labeling, grounding, shielding, and electrical safety considerations.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, software, controls, communication, and system integration issues.
  • Support testing of sensors, actuators, motion control, safety interlocks, user interface functions, and system responses.
  • Assist with software version tracking, test scripts, configuration management, and engineering change documentation.
  • Work with the mechanical engineer to resolve electromechanical integration issues.
  • Support development of test methods for functional checks, system startup, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with software documentation and traceability inputs as needed for regulatory planning.
  • Provide technical support during prototype builds, demonstrations, verification dry runs, and design reviews

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical problem-solving, and sound judgment in resolving electrical, software, controls, and system integration issues efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional engineering, software, mechanical, and operations teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related engineering discipline required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in electrical engineering, software engineering, controls engineering, robotics, embedded systems, or electromechanical system integration required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Altium, EPLAN, ROS/ROS2, C/C++, Python, robotics, medical device development, regulated product development, or safety-critical systems preferred.
