What You Can Expect Working in the Finance Intern Position


As a Finance Intern, you will support the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in financial modeling, forecasting, and reporting, while also contributing to process improvements that enhance efficiency. You will gain hands-on experience with budgeting, variance analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, learning how financial insights support decision-making across the business. This role is designed for students with a strong interest in corporate finance who want to see how data drives strategic planning. 


Responsibilities 

  • Assists with updates of financial projection models, including revising assumptions and forecasts. 
  • Compiles, analyzes, and summarizes financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights. 
  • Supports variance analysis by comparing actual results to plan and identifying key drivers. 
  • Helps improve reporting processes, including streamlining recurring reports and exploring simple automation tools to improve efficiency. 
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement within FP&A activities. 
  • Conducts ad hoc analyses and contribute to special projects as assigned.

Requirements


Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration. 
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to structure and analyze data.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent attention to detail and demonstrated interest in corporate finance and planning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Strong interest in corporate finance and financial planning & analysis. 
  • Coursework or experience in financial modeling, budgeting, or forecasting.
  • Familiarity with SQL or other data tools to support finance-driven analysis (not as a primary focus).
  • Exposure to ERP systems (e.g., SAGE, NetSuite, SAP) and their role in financial reporting.
  • Comfort with Excel-based analysis, with interest in learning automation to improve reporting efficiency.
