Lead Custodian

The Custodial Lead is responsible for the overall cleanliness and sanitation of assigned branches and other duties as assigned by the Buildings and Grounds Director. Experienced candidate must know how to use techniques and machines in a custodial environment to clean and disinfect our buildings, Monday through Friday and some weekends. The candidate must adhere to strict cleaning standards set forth by the Two Rivers YMCA and must be consistent with keeping to those cleaning standards during their shift.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Serve as a role model to members and Y staff and live the YMCA mission, vision and values of the YMCA movement.
- Understands the emergency procedures and knows the location of emergency equipment.
- Responsible for directing and overseeing general cleaning duties of custodial staff, scheduling, and job performance reviews in attention to making recommendations for hiring and disciplinary action to the Executive and Center Directors for custodial staff.
- Establish and maintain good communication with all staff, and supervisor.
- Actively participate in maintaining all necessary certifications and obtaining further certifications when available for personal career development.
- Evaluate conditions and needs of the Two Rivers YMCA as they pertain to the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned branches while implementing and carry our project cleaning.
- Maintain adequate supply of inventory to complete custodial tasks for assigned branches.
- Ensure proper staffing of facilities for special event and building rental clean up and follow up on complaints and concerns from staff as well as ensure all positions are covered during any absence.
- Inspect equipment periodically to make sure it is being used and maintained properly in attention to inspecting custodial work areas and addresses any concerns or complaints.
- Provide general custodial care for the entire area of assigned facilities, including restroom and locker room cleaning, carpet and floor care, office cleaning, and cleaning of program areas.
- Participate in and solicit others to participate in necessary YMCA financial development efforts, specifically the Annual Campaign.
- Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements.
- Adherence to all policies and procedures of Two Rivers YMCA.
- Regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings.
- All other duties as assigned by the Buildings and Grounds Director.

Success will also be established by maintaining a well supervised, productive and efficient custodial staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for the supervision of the part-time Custodial
staff.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and
applicable laws. Responsibilities include initiating and/or assisting supervisor with training
employees; planning, scheduling, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance;
rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualification Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the

Education and/or Experience: A high School diploma or equivalent is required and 3-5
years of cleaning experience is preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, curriculum,
policy/procedure manuals, and financial documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries
or complaints from members and non-members of the YMCA. Ability to communicate
effectively to children, parents, members and non-members, and other staff.
Mathematical Skills: Must have basic mathematical skills.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Complete background check, child abuse prevention
training, CPR/AED certification for infant, child and adult, and blood borne pathogens.

required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,
and the ability to adjust focus.

Wage: $16/hr
