About the Role

Job Title: Senior Data Analyst

Reports to: Corporate Information Technology Director

Location: On-site at our office in Idaho Falls, ID; Antigo, WI; or Wausau, WI. Preference will be given to candidates located within commuting distance of our Idaho Falls, Wausau, or Antigo, Wisconsin offices due to the collaborative nature of the role.

Job Summary

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for delivering reliable, accurate, and scalable reporting solutions across Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, CE, Lasernet, and Power BI. The role serves as the organization’s senior technical resource for enterprise resource planning (ERP) based reporting, supporting Volm Companies financial, equipment, and other operational teams by translating complex business requirements into well designed data models, reports, and analytical outputs. The position utilizes deep domain knowledge, technical execution, and coordination across reporting efforts rather than exploratory data science or statistical research.

Essential Duties

  • Serve as the senior technical expert for Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations reporting data, including understanding ERP data structures, entities, and reporting implications.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI semantic models that provide standardized, reusable datasets for Finance and operational reporting.
  • Develop and maintain critical Power BI reports and dashboards, ensuring accuracy, performance, usability, and alignment with business requirements.
  • Design, maintain, and support Lasernet reports, particularly where operational, regulatory, or document generation needs require it.
  • Translate business reporting requirements into technical implementations, partnering closely with Finance and operational stakeholders.
  • Implement clearly defined business rules and metrics using SQL, Power Query, and DAX, ensuring logic is transparent and traceable.
  • Provide technical leadership across reporting efforts, helping coordinate work, identify dependencies, and reduce duplication or inconsistent designs.
  • Support reporting for newly implemented or evolving D365 modules.
  • Perform technical validation and troubleshooting of reports, identifying data issues related to sourcing, timing, transformations, or model behavior.
  • Develop and maintain reporting documentation, including semantic model details, key metrics, assumptions, and report dependencies.
  • Mentor and support other reporting team members, sharing best practices for Power BI, Lasernet, and ERP reporting.
  • Coordinate with IT leadership on reporting priorities and sequencing, providing input on effort, complexity, and delivery timing.
  • Utilize Microsoft Fabric and related tools as appropriate to improve reporting consistency, performance, and scalability.
  • Help reduce operational risk by promoting standardized designs and shared knowledge, minimizing reliance on single person expertise.

Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of information enterprise reporting, business intelligence, and data analytics normally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, statistics, or related field; and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5years of hands-on experience in enterprise reporting or data analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and CE data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI including semantic models, data analysis expressions (DAX), row-level security, and performance tuning.
  • Strong SQL skills including queries, vies, and performance optimization.
  • Proven experience with Lasernetreport development and maintenance.
  • Experience supporting Finance and Operational reporting in a manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environment preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time.
  • Capability to lift and carry objects of various weights up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Proficiency in using hands, fingers, and arms for tasks such as typing and writing, grasping, pinching, and manipulating small objects.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to read documents and recognize details at close and distant ranges.
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal communication.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, and reach low or high objects occasionally.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects occasionally.
  • Adaptability to work in varying environmental conditions, such as temperature extremes, noise, dust, or fumes, depending on the nature of the job.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and wear protective gear, including helmets, goggles, gloves, and safety shoes, as required by the job.

Travel Requirements 

This position requires occasional overnight travel and occasional travel within the workday.

Driver Qualification

The ability to drive a company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle on behalf of the company is required/may be required. Inclusion in the company’s driver qualification program is required to drive a company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle. 

Becoming a qualified driver includes:

  • Agree to the company driving policies that apply to company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle as applicable.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver license and be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record, as evidenced by completion of a baseline motor vehicle record check and ongoing monitoring.
  • When driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company, must provide a copy of the declaration page from personal auto insurance that shows the policy dates and minimum coverage amounts ($300,000 bodily injury per accident/$100,000 property damage per accident or if driving less than 5 hours/200 miles a year $50,000 bodily injury per accident/$10,000 property damage per accident or the state minimum, whichever is more). This requirement is initially and then annually thereafter.
