About the Role

Position Overview:  

The Network Administrator is responsible for the installation, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and support of the University's wired and wireless network infrastructure, telecommunications systems, and related technologies. This position analyzes and resolves network, security, and communications issues; evaluates alternatives; recommends solutions based on industry best practices; maintains the security and reliability of network services; and provides technical expertise in support of infrastructure planning, projects, and operational initiatives across the University.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Network Administration, Computer Networking, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience supporting, administering, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting wired and wireless networking, switching, routing, firewalls, network access control systems, and telecommunications technologies.

Work-Related Knowledge

  • Knowledge of enterprise wired and wireless networking technologies, including switching, routing, VLANs, and WAN connectivity. 
  • Knowledge of network access control (NAC), authentication services, and network security concepts.
  • Knowledge of firewall administration, network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications and voice communication systems.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure hardware, software, and supporting technologies.
  • Knowledge of virtualization platforms and supporting infrastructure technologies.
  • Knowledge of information technology operations, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex networking, wireless, telecommunications, and infrastructure-related issues.

Licenses / Certifications: 

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification, or equivalent networking certification, preferred. 
  • Additional networking, wireless, network access control (NAC), firewall, or telecommunications certifications are desirable. 
  • Current and valid Pennsylvania driver's license
