About The Company
We're disrupting the energy storage landscape with our cutting-edge proprietary electronics and software. Founded in 2015 out of research at the University of Melbourne, Relectrify has collaborated on projects with industry giants like Nissan and American Electric Power. We’re backed by global clean energy investors, including Toyota Ventures and Australia's own Clean Energy Finance Corporation. At Relectrify, we're on a mission to shape the future of battery energy storage. Our technology enhances battery longevity, throughput, safety, and reliability, all while reducing costs.
About the Role
About Relectrify

Relectrify is a Melbourne-based deep-tech company redefining how batteries connect to everything they power. Our CellSwitch® platform is an open architecture that works with any cell, built on more than 150 patents and roughly ten years of platform R&D, and backed by leading investors including Toyota, EDP, NRG Energy, GS and Australia's Clean Energy Finance Corporation.

Our first product, the AC1, is designed for Commercial and Industrial (C&I) battery energy storage. It is now shipping, with revenue ramping rapidly, into a market we size at over A$25B/yr by 2030. The same platform reaches into other sectors, including data centres and powertrains for electric vehicles.

This is a rare opportunity to help build a category-defining hardware platform company from a pivotal growth stage.

The role

As Head of Product Management, BESS, you will build and lead Relectrify's product function for stationary battery energy storage market applications. You will join the leadership team, own the product management function, and champion the customer and the market in every product decision, working hand in hand with world-class commercial and engineering teams.

This is a build role. You will shape how product management works at Relectrify, establish the rigour and processes that scale with us, and own the business plan for each product line, with visibility to the leadership team, board and customers.

You will work on genuinely differentiated technology, with real commercial traction across multiple markets in a growth company backed by leading strategic investors and heading into a Series B.

Key responsibilities
  • Product strategy and roadmap: own the product vision, strategy and roadmap across hardware and connected software and services, tied directly to market opportunity, customer needs and company strategy.
  • Full product lifecycle: lead the complete lifecycle across long hardware development cycles: discovery, roadmap, new product introduction (NPI), launch, in-market lifecycle management and end-of-life.
  • Customer and market insight: build a disciplined understanding of customers, segments and the competitive landscape across our markets, and translate it into prioritised, evidence-based product decisions.
  • Commercial and margin ownership: own pricing, positioning and P&L or margin outcomes for the product line, and partner closely with the commercial team to win and retain customers.
  • Hardware execution: work with engineering and operations to deliver the realities of physical product: certification and compliance, BOM cost management, supply chain, NPI and field reliability.
  • Build and lead the team: grow product management as a core discipline at Relectrify; hire, mentor and manage a team of product managers as the function scales.
  • Product-led ways of working: embed a product-led culture across the company, partnering closely with a deeply technical engineering team and anchoring decisions in customer and market value.
  • Leadership and stakeholder voice: operate as a member of the leadership team, credible with the board and investors and with the engineering team alike.
About you

Applicants must have full working rights in Australia and be willing to undergo pre-employment background checks (working rights, criminal history, and reference checks).

The Head of Product Management, BESS is a seasoned product leader who brings depth across four areas: a full-lifecycle product track record, commercial ownership, the leadership to build and grow a function, and the technical fluency to partner with a world-class engineering team. Few people are equally strong in all four. Depth across most, with credible coverage of the remainder, is the standard for this role.

The role is open to product leaders from software as well as hardware. What is required is a record of leading products through sustained growth or change, established credibility in unfamiliar technical domains, and the appetite to take on the challenge of hardware.

Product management

  • You have owned products end to end: discovery, roadmap, launch, in-market lifecycle management and end-of-life.
  • You build a rigorous understanding of customers, segments and the competitive landscape, and you can show how that evidence shaped what you built and what you declined to build.
  • You are comfortable across a core product and the software and services that wrap around it, and you can prioritise coherently across both.
  • You can point to a business or unit where you helped establish or deepen a product-led way of working and describe how you did it.
  • You are strong on pricing, positioning and unit economics, and you work naturally with commercial teams rather than at arm's length.

Seniority and leadership

  • You have built or scaled a product function, sat on or reported into a leadership team, and hired and managed other product managers.
  • You can hold your own with a board and investors on strategy and commercials, and equally with engineers on the substance of the product.

Technical credibility

  • You bring a genuinely technical background, whether in engineering (electrical, power, mechatronics or similar) or in software; an advanced degree (MEng / PhD) is a strong signal but not mandatory.
  • You earn the trust of deeply technical teams while consistently anchoring decisions in customer and market value, not specifications alone.

Stage and mindset fit

  • You have worked in a scaling product-company environment, not only large-corporate, and you can build process and structure as an organisation grows.
  • You have delivered through pivots, rapid growth, shifting markets or new business models, and you can articulate what you held constant and what you changed.
  • You have moved into an unfamiliar technical or commercial domain and quickly established credibility, and you can describe how you did it.
  • You are energised by a fast-moving, high-growth context.
  • You want to build and shape a product function, not simply maintain an established one.

Domain experience: valued, not required

None of the following is a prerequisite. Where present, it will shorten the time to reach full effectiveness in the role.

  • You have experience leading hardware products, particularly in power electronics, energy storage and BESS, EV charging, inverters and solar, microgrids, or grid and power infrastructure, understood as systems rather than components.
  • You are familiar with long hardware development cycles, certification and compliance regimes, and BOM cost management, and with the realities of supply chain, NPI and field reliability.
  • You’ve gained experience at organisations recognised for hardware product excellence in energy, power electronics, e-mobility, or closely adjacent sectors, serving industrial, utility, or infrastructure customers.

Competitive salary, meaningful equity upside, and real ownership of where the product goes next. Plus:

  • Flexible work arrangements
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Gender-neutral paid parental, personal/carer’s leave of absence
  • Purchased leave scheme
  • Salary sacrifice for superannuation
  • Education reimbursement
  • No-cost commuting
  • Free snacks and (actually good!) coffee
  • Team events and monthly socials
