Job Overview
As a Restaurant Server, you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional experiences by serving food and beverages with warmth and professionalism. Your primary focus will be connecting with guests to ensure their satisfaction and enjoyment. Typical shifts are from approximately 6 AM to 2 PM.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Take guest orders and serve food and beverages using established Hotel standards.
- Complete all IHG and Hotel training.
- Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to the guest should cease.
- Check identification of guests appearing to be under 40 years of age.
- Notify management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of guests.
- Clean and maintain workspace.
- Perform pre- and post- shift duties; such as cleaning and stocking.
- Clean and maintain workspace including tables, walls, windows, floors, and in-room dining carts.
- Engage with guests and colleagues using D.A.R.E. to Connect behaviors.
- Follow hotel safety protocols and procedures at all times. Immediately report any safety/service incident to the Restaurant Manager or the Person In Charge (PIC).
- Additional duties as necessary and assigned.
Specific job knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in the primary workplace language.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Proficient in navigating necessary software and applications.
- Ability to comply with local food handling and alcohol service laws, including passing the ServSafe Alcohol Safety class and exam.
- Knowledge of table service standards, appropriate settings, service ware, and all menu items and preparation methods.
- Capability to engage positively with guests and colleagues.
Physical demands:
- Most tasks performed indoors in a controlled environment, but must adapt to extreme temperatures (e.g., freezers at -10°F and kitchens at +110°F) for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and transport items up to 50 pounds regularly and maneuver carts or equipment weighing up to 250 pounds occasionally.
- Must maintain well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours.
- Capable of maneuvering between tables and in tight spaces.
- Able to position self to complete cleaning tasks effectively.
Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements
A high school or equivalent education is preferred. Minimum of six months of prior food service experience is preferred. Must be at the minimum age to serve alcohol in line with any local legislative requirements.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations for the safe and effective operations of the Hotel’s facilities. Associates who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including, separation.
