Position Information:
With strong attention to detail, the Maintenance Mechanic Assistant supports the inspection, maintenance, and repair of company vehicles, trailers, and traffic control equipment. This role assists in ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable, and compliant while supporting daily field operations.
Position Responsibilities
- Assist with maintenance and repairs on company vehicles, including trucks, vans, UTVs, and trailers.
- Support servicing of traffic control equipment such as arrow boards, message boards, light towers, and generators.
- Assist in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues under supervision.
- Follow established schedules and procedures for preventative maintenance.
- Help identify and document damaged or worn parts.
- Assist with ordering, organizing, and installing replacement parts.
- Support troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions and breakdowns.
- Assist in completing repairs to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation as directed.
- Keep shop areas clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Assist with inventory management of parts, tools, and supplies.
- Follow direction from mechanic and management to prioritize tasks.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and clean work environment.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments as needed.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
- 1 year of mechanical or related experience preferred (automotive, diesel, or equipment).
Qualifications:
- Valid Nevada driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and willingness to learn.
- Ability to use hand tools and equipment safely.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to read, write, and understand instructions in English.
- Basic computer and handheld device proficiency.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands:
- Requires manual dexterity and hand coordination.
- Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Exposure to moderate to high noise levels.

- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including extremes of hot or cold in addition to wet environments.
- Job requires the following motions: climbing, stooping, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, repetitive lifting; up to 50 pounds, occasional lifting; up to 100 pounds, stretching, sitting, walking on uneven ground and stairs.
