Job Title: Warehouse Support

Reports to: Food Bank Fulfillment Supervisor 

Status: Hourly, Non-exempt, Full time

Grade: 3 – Operational and Customer Service Roles


SUMMARY

The Warehouse Support role provides flexible, hands-on support across Foodlink’s Food Bank operations, including Receiving, Order Selection, Delivery and Volunteer Sort activities. This position works collaboratively with warehouse staff, volunteers, and Operations Management to ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient handling of products coming in and out of the warehouse. Warehouse Support plays an important role in maintaining food safety, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance for the Food Bank.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Order Fulfillment & Distribution Support
  • Support order selection activities as needed by accurately and efficiently picking, staging, and preparing orders for outbound deliveries.
  • Assist with staging and movement of product to ensure timely and accurate distribution.
  • Assist fulfillment team with order picks that may include dry, perishable or freezer products.


Receiving & Inventory Support

  • Support receiving by unloading trailers, breaking down inbound shipments, and moving product from the dock.
  • Assist with receiving and unloading retail damaged loads in compliance with regulatory agency requirements and Foodlink receiving procedures.
  • Inspect incoming products for signs of contamination or food safety concerns and report issues promptly.
  • Assist with thorough and accurate receiving documentation and submit reports to the Receiving Coordinator.
  • Assist with replenishment of product to the correct bulk and/or pick bins.
  • Assist Operations leadership with inventory reconciliation and physical inventory counts, including month-end, quarterly, and year-end counts.


Volunteer & Sort Support

  • Work in coordination with the Volunteer Operations Manager to organize, stage, and move pallets during volunteer sort activities.
  • Assist with set-up, product movement, and post-sort pallet put-away in designated warehouse locations.
  • Support volunteers as needed by providing clear direction and ensuring safe work practices during sort activities.


Safety, Sanitation & Compliance

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary warehouse environment in accordance with food safety protocols, AIB standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Properly dispose of waste and recyclables and maintain organization throughout the warehouse.
  • Complete all required opening and closing checklists related to cleanliness, safety, and sanitation.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations Management and the Safety & Compliance team to support compliance with all warehouse safety and food safety standards.


General Warehouse Support

  • Maintain warehouse supplies and equipment and report maintenance needs as appropriate.
  • Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and warehouse equipment safely and in accordance with Foodlink policies.
  • Represent Foodlink professionally when interacting with donors, customers, volunteers, and member agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Food Bank warehouse operations.

Requirements

  

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years prior warehouse experience required.
  • Forklift (sit-down and stand-up) and electric pallet jack certification required.
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety, sanitation, and food handling standards.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to perform routine problem-solving.
  • Ability to train and provide directions to volunteers and/or staff as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time, non-exempt position ranging from $19.50 - $24.75 per hour depending on experience. Foodlink covers 100% of individual health and dental insurance with the ability to acquire family coverage with pretax dollars. In addition to generous paid time off (PTO), we observe 14 paid holidays throughout the year. Opportunity to contribute to a 401k retirement savings plan upon hire. Eligible for generous employer match after 1 year of service.
