PAY RATE
Starting at $17.92 per hour
- Your final offer will be based on a combination of your education, relevant experience, and overall qualifications.
RETENTION BONUS OPPORTUNITY
$1000 for Full-Time Employees
$500 for Part-Time employees working 20+ hours per week
- Half of the bonus is paid at 90 days
- The remaining half is paid at 180 days

SCHEDULE
Monday-Friday
Split Shift Schedule: Mornings as early as 6:00 AM and Afternoons as late as 6:00 PM
POSITION SUMMARY
Driver Aides play an important role in providing safe, respectful, and supportive transportation for the individuals we serve. Driver Aides work alongside Drivers to assist passengers with boarding, transportation, and exiting while providing behavioral, emotional, and mobility support as needed.
This position requires patience, dependability, attentiveness, and a strong commitment to safety and client dignity. Driver Aides help create a safe, welcoming, and supportive transportation experience for every passenger.
Driver Aides also work with the clinical team to implement individualized support and behavior strategies using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and evidence-based practices.
OPPORTUNITY TO WORK AS A PARAPROFESSIONAL
Driver Aides may also have the opportunity to work as a Paraprofessional within BHA if they are interested in working full-time hours. This optional opportunity is based on organizational needs and individual qualifications and provides additional experience working directly with students in an educational setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist passengers with safely boarding and exiting vehicles
- Assist with securing seatbelts, wheelchairs, and other safety equipment
- Monitor passengers throughout transportation and communicate safety or behavioral concerns to the Driver
- Provide calm, respectful, and supportive assistance to passengers
- Assist individuals with behavioral, emotional, mobility, or other support needs during transportation
- Follow established safety procedures and transportation protocols
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized vehicle environment
- Support the Driver with passenger needs and transportation responsibilities
- Complete required trip reports, incident reports, and other documentation accurately
- Maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy and dignity of individuals served
- Communicate effectively with Drivers, supervisors, and program staff
- Participate in required training and ongoing professional development
- Follow BHA policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected or challenging situations
- Support the implementation of individualized behavior and support strategies as directed
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, teamwork, and professionalism
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience working with or transporting individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or medical conditions is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or unexpected situations
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Dependable and reliable attendance
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Crisis de-escalation or passenger assistance training is preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must pass all required background checks
- Must complete a Human Performance Evaluation prior to hire and annually thereafter with a medical provider selected by BHA
- Position is subject to random and annual drug and alcohol testing
- Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation
