St John of God Subiaco Hospital with more than 1,200 of WA’s most experienced and respected medical specialists, 2,200 caregivers and 600 beds, our hospital plays a vital role in delivering private health care across the state.

About the role

We are seeking a Casual Senior Cardiac Technician to join our Cardiac Vascular Intervention Unit (CVIL), providing specialist technical support for diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures.

Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality patient care while contributing to a dynamic and innovative cardiac service.

Our Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (CVIL) is a leading cardiac service equipped with advanced technology and supported by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. As part of the exciting redevelopment of the SJG Subiaco Heart Centre, you will have the opportunity to work across expanded interventional services, a new Coronary Care Unit, Radial Lounge, and Hybrid Suite, while developing your skills through a diverse and rewarding range of cardiac cases.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide specialist technical support for diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures within the Cardiac Vascular Intervention Unit.

  • Operate and interpret advanced physiological monitoring and electrophysiology systems to support patient care and clinical decision-making.

  • Assist with patient preparation, emergency response, and resuscitation procedures during cardiac interventions.

  • Coordinate the maintenance, calibration, and effective operation of electrophysiology equipment.

  • Manage consumables and ensure appropriate stock levels to support service delivery.

  • Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, techniques, and clinical practices.

  • Maintain accurate procedural and patient records in accordance with clinical and regulatory requirements.

  • Support the education and development of caregivers through formal and informal training in electrophysiology procedures and practices.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly skilled Cardiac Technician with a Bachelor of Science or Applied Science, majoring in Anatomical Science, Biomedical Science, Exercise Physiology or Human Biology OR have a Tertiary qualification in Nursing or Medical Imaging Technology and be eligible for registration with the relevant Board.

You will bring advanced expertise in ECG recording and interpretation, haemodynamic monitoring, electrophysiology studies, and catheter ablation procedures, supported by a strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and contemporary healthcare technology.

A commitment to continuous learning, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development will be key to your success in this role. Postgraduate qualifications in electrophysiology, such as the CEPIA certification, or other recognised cardiopulmonary and electrophysiology credentials (including NASPE, Mayfield, or equivalent international certifications) will be highly regarded. Affiliate membership with the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) will also be viewed favourably.

  • Hourly Rate: $82.55 to $88.02(inclusive of casual loading), plus 12% superannuation
