About the Role

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.

 

Downer Professional Services comprises of our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

 

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Systems Integration Engineer in Canberra, ACT to work on complex Land systems integration, test and validation projects.

 

What You’ll Do

 

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

  • Provide hands-on engineering support for the integration, maintenance and assurance of complex application, information, network and mission command systems.
  • Apply systems engineering principles to maintain system alignment, interface coherence and design integrity across interconnected systems and multiple security boundaries.
  • Plan, support and undertake systems integration, test and evaluation, experimentation and validation activities within the Land Combat System environment.
  • Assess proposed changes across system interfaces and dependencies, manage integration risks, and maintain alignment between requirements, implemented solutions and operational outcomes.
  • Engage with Defence organisations, capability projects and enabling ICT providers to resolve integration issues and provide technically informed engineering advice.

 

What You’ll Bring

 

  • Advanced practitioner-level experience in systems engineering, system-of-systems integration, technical assurance, test and evaluation, or a related Defence engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating and supporting complex, interdependent mission systems, including application, information, network or mission command environments.
  • Strong capability in systems design evolution, interface management, configuration control, requirements alignment and integration risk management.
  • Proven ability to investigate complex technical issues, assess the impacts of change and communicate practical, evidence-based advice to technical and senior stakeholders.
  • A collaborative and hands-on approach, with the ability to work effectively within a small specialist team and travel interstate or internationally when required.

 

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain an AGSVA Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
