Job Summary: The Tornos/Bechler operator's role involves loading raw materials, monitoring the machining process, adjusting machine settings as necessary, and ensuring the quality of the finished parts. This individual will thrive in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment, has a keen eye for detail, and is committed to delivering excellence.
Work Schedule: This is a full-time, benefits eligible position requiring approximately 40 hours per week. Core work schedule is Monday – Friday from 6:30am – 3:00pm. Individual must be flexible to work overtime as needed.
Pay Rate: $20-$24
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Operate Tornos/Bechler machines according to job specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
- Load raw materials into the machine and monitor the machining process to ensure proper operation.
- Inspect and verify part dimensions using precision measuring equipment to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Adjust machine settings as necessary to maintain product quality and meet production targets.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn components.
- Inspect finished parts for defects and ensure they meet all quality requirements before releasing them for further processing or shipment.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Keep accurate records of production activities, including machine settings, production quantities, and any quality issues encountered.
- Collaborate with other team members, including engineers and quality inspectors, to optimize production processes and improve product quality.
- Complete any additional duties or projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Similar previous machine operation experience and use of measuring equipment is a plus.
- A positive attitude and exceptional aptitude for growing your skills.
- Ability and willingness to learn the proper use of precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read, understand, and accurately follow department processes and procedures.
- Effective decision making and problem-solving skills with a drive for results.
- Ability to prioritize time-sensitive projects/tasks.
- A collaborative mindset that focuses on teamwork.
- Detail orientation with the ability to accurately follow work instructions.
- Basic math, computer, and data entry skills (previous ERP system experience a plus).
- The ability to effectively use precision measuring instruments.
- Vision corrected to 20/20 for accurate inspection of parts.
