The Opportunity

 

Abt Global is seeking a Health Research Monitoring & Evaluation Associate to support professional and scientific work for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). You will provide senior-level technical expertise in the monitoring and evaluation of health research and scientific programs. You will support the development and implementation of evidence-based monitoring and evaluation approaches, analyze quantitative and qualitative information, assess program activities and progress toward anticipated results, and translate findings into meaningful recommendations and reports.

 

Core Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and support the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities for health research, scientific, and related programs.
  • Develop and evaluate monitoring and evaluation designs, sampling plans, survey instruments, protocols, work plans, and other research and evaluation materials.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to assess project activities, outputs, outcomes, and progress toward anticipated results.
  • Work with statistical databases, data collection systems, and other technologies to capture, organize, manage, and analyze research and evaluation data.
  • Develop performance measures, indicators, and analytical approaches appropriate to project objectives and evaluation questions.
  • Synthesize findings from multiple data sources and translate complex information into clear conclusions and actionable recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities for program, process, or methodological improvements based on research and evaluation findings.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations, summaries, and other products for internal and external audiences.
  • Lead substantial technical tasks, projects, or processes with limited oversight and exercise independent judgment in determining appropriate technical approaches.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource and primary technical contact on assigned projects or workstreams.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and review of work performed by other research and evaluation professionals.
  • Coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to support successful completion of project objectives and deliverables.
  • Apply appropriate quality assurance and quality control practices to research, data collection, analysis, and reporting activities.
  • Contribute advanced technical and methodological expertise to the development and improvement of monitoring and evaluation approaches.

 

What We Value

 

  • Master’s degree plus 7 years of relevant experience, or PhD plus 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation, health research, public health, research methods, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting programs, projects, or research activities for the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
  • Demonstrated experience developing or evaluating research and evaluation designs, sampling plans, survey instruments, protocols, and/or work plans.
  • Experience collecting, managing, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and/or qualitative data.
  • Experience using statistical databases, analytical tools, and data collection technologies to support research or evaluation activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop evidence-based findings, conclusions, and recommendations from complex information.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, presentations, and other research or evaluation products for internal and external audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex technical assignments or substantial project workstreams with limited oversight.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance, review work, and support the development of less experienced professionals.
  • Experience supporting health research, biomedical research, public health, science policy, or related scientific programs.
  • Experience developing performance measures, indicators, monitoring frameworks, or evaluation methodologies.
  • Experience integrating quantitative and qualitative evidence from multiple sources to assess program performance and outcomes.
  • Experience communicating complex research or evaluation findings to technical and nontechnical audiences.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $96,000 to $136,000 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
