Te āhua o te tūranga I The nature of the role

As our Geothermal Monitoring Supervisor, you’ll lead a team at the forefront of how we understand and care for our steamfields. You’ll guide measurement technicians to deliver accurate, timely data across well testing, compliance and resource monitoring, helping ensure we meet both operational needs and regulatory expectations. Alongside this, you’ll take a hands on role in leading or supporting projects that contribute to our broader decarbonisation and operational goals.

This is a role with real variety and influence. You’ll bring structure and clarity to workflows, lift capability across the team, and create an environment where people can do their best work. From shaping processes and improving efficiency, through to mentoring your team and working with stakeholders across the business, you’ll help connect day to day monitoring with long term asset performance and sustainability, ngā mahi e tino whai take ana.

Ko wai koe | About you

You’ll ideally bring experience from geothermal, environmental or a similar technical field, along with a strong understanding of monitoring, chemistry sampling, data quality, and how this feeds into Contact's operational decision making. You’re confident leading people and stepping into environments where there is an opportunity to lift standards, strengthen capability, and create real momentum.

Our must-haves include a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, solid experience in a geothermal or related industry, and proven ability to lead a team while delivering high quality technical outcomes. You’ll also bring strong problem solving skills, sound judgement, and the ability to communicate clearly across a range of audiences. A genuine commitment to health, safety and environmental standards is essential.

Nice to have, but not essential, are previous supervisory or leadership experience in a transforming environment, exposure to continuous improvement practices, and experience building team capability or improving performance frameworks.

Just as important is who you are. You’re a pragmatic, straight-talking leader who sets clear expectations and follows through. You’re comfortable having the tough conversations when needed, addressing behaviours early, and creating accountability within a team. You lead with integrity, build trust, and bring a steady, grounded approach that helps shift culture in a positive direction.
