At Smith Energy, the work we do depends on a well-run yard and a team that takes pride in their work. We’re looking for a reliable Maintenance and Facilities Technician who enjoys staying active and helping keep our property, equipment, vehicles, and customers in top shape.


The Role - What A Day In The Life Looks Like:

The Maintenance and Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe yard, garage, and warehouse environment. This role supports operations by assisting with vehicle cleaning, minor mechanical tasks, equipment organization, customer loadouts, and general facility upkeep. The Maintenance and Facilities Technician plays a key role in ensuring the property remains orderly, safe, and operationally efficient.


Job Duties Include:


Vehicle & Equipment Support

  • Wash and clean company trucks and equipment
  • Assist the mechanic with minor repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Organize parts, tools, and equipment in the shop
  • Assist with filling drums and pails
  • Make product deliveries to customers (DEF & lubes)
  • Change filters, hoses, and nozzles on our loaned equipment

Yard & Facility Maintenance

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free yard area
  • Sweep and clean shop and warehouse areas
  • Mow grass and maintain outdoor grounds as needed
  • Help maintain signage and safety markings throughout the property

Operations Support

  • Load customer vehicles using a forklift or skid loader
  • Help move and organize materials around the yard and warehouse
  • Support general yard logistics and inventory organization

Qualifications - What You Bring To The Table:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years' driving experience (DOT)
  • Valid Illinois Class B CDL with hazardous material, air brake, and tanker endorsements
  • DOT Medical Certification
  • Comfortable working outdoors and staying physically active
  • Ability to lift and move materials as needed
  • Mechanical aptitude is a plus
  • Forklift or skid loader experience is helpful (but can be trained)
  • Strong attention to safety and organization
