About the Role

Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Work Location: Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC), Port Hueneme, CA

Pay: Up to $39.35/hour + $7.45/hour (Health & Wellness Benefit through the Union)


Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is a progressive and well-established Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance (O&M); weapons testing; facilities management; aerial, ground and seaborne targets O&M; technical, logistics and other engineering support; systems integration; electronics and communications maintenance services; and a growing cybersecurity business. We are highly focused and, among other efforts, currently operate a dozen active test and/or training ranges for the Army, Air Force and Navy. We are currently looking to hire a qualified Machinery Maintenance Mechanic (OPS MMNMC) to provide support to the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division’s (NAWCWD) PTMO (Pacific Target and Marine Operations program at at all levels of operations fabrication and repair, dockside at NBVC Port Hueneme, CA.


Primary Duties:

  • Support small vessel (12’-60’) operations and maintenance at NBVC Port Hueneme, CA.
  • Operate military small craft and follow procedures, specifically on high-speed rough water operations.
  • Diagnose and repair Mercury Marine gasoline inboard/outboard marine engines.
  • Diagnose marine engine malfunctions (all models) and effect repairs to restore equipment to an operating condition.
  • Follow established preventative maintenance programs utilizing technical service manuals and schematic charts for marine engines and related marine equipment.
  • Assist in fabrication of equipment and provide recommendations for required purchase of parts and supplies.
  • Serve as a crew member on various size vessels.
  • Other duties as assigned to include forklift operator, HAZMAT, safe and effective use of PPE and small hand tools

Work Conditions:

  • Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Outdoor duties may be performed on shore and afloat on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet.
  • Requires the ability to work in a seaborne environment with some shift work at remote locations with occasional over-night assignments.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Travel to remote working locations for mission support is required and routine deployments on support and target vessels may be required INCONUS and occasionally OCONUS.
  • Overtime required at times to support operations.
  • Work Schedule currently is a 9/80 schedule (Mon – Thurs, 9 hours, alternating Fridays, 1 work 8 hrs. 1 off)

Requirements

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum USCG 100 Ton Credential.
  • Ability to diagnose marine engine malfunctions (all models) and effect repairs to restore equipment to an operating condition - required.
  • Ability to follow established preventative maintenance programs utilizing technical service manuals and schematic charts for marine engines and related marine equipment.
  • Must be able to travel to remote working locations for mission support and on routine deployments on support and target vessels, both INCONUS and occasionally OCONUS.
  • Must have the ability to work in a seaborne environment with some shift work at remote locations with occasional over-night assignments.
  • Knowledge with Mercury Marine gasoline inboard/outboard marine engines - highly desired.
  • Works well with others as a member of a team.
  • Current Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
