About the Role

Description

Looking to build your career in manufacturing? A&K Railroad Materials is looking for a Machine Operator I to join our Kansas City, KS team. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone with some previous experience operating CNC machines who is ready to develop their skills in a hands-on manufacturing environment.


A&K Railroad Materials is a nationwide leader in supplying new and used railroad track materials. With more than 65 years in the industry, we take pride in producing and providing the tracks that connect the world.


As a Machine Operator I, you’ll operate CNC and other industrial equipment to produce rail components while learning A&K’s processes, equipment, and quality standards. You don’t need years of machining experience, but previous CNC machine operating experience is required.


What You'll Do

  • Operate assigned CNC machines safely and accurately
  • Follow work orders, production instructions, and established operating procedures
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality and production standards
  • Work with the production team to meet daily goals and maintain an efficient workflow
  • Maintain materials and work areas, including moving raw materials, rail pieces, debris, and other shop materials
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards


Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience operating CNC machines is required
  • Entry-level manufacturing experience is welcome; extensive machining experience is not required
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, instructions, and basic measurements
  • Reliable, safety-minded, and comfortable working in a hands-on production environment
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn additional equipment and processes
  • Ability to stand, bend, crouch, and perform physical work throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Manufacturing, machining, or industrial experience is a plus
