Your impact at MUFG

As an AVP Credit Officer Project & Aviation Finance you will play a key role in supporting the sustainable growth of MUFG’s Structured Finance portfolio. You will assess and monitor Project Finance and Aviation Finance transactions, providing insightful credit recommendations that enable informed decision-making and effective risk management.

Acting as a trusted risk partner, you will collaborate with Front Office teams to identify and mitigate risks, challenge proposals constructively, and contribute to a strong risk culture. Through your expertise, judgement, and stakeholder engagement, you will help protect the Bank's balance sheet, support strategic objectives, and contribute to a robust control environment across the organisation.

Function positioning

This position is part of the Credit Office, MBE’s second line of defence function, and reports directly to the Head of CIB Credit. The role works closely with Front Office and key stakeholders across the Bank to provide independent credit oversight, support sound risk-taking, and ensure alignment with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and MUFG's risk appetite.

The role includes the following:

  • Review credit applications and provide recommendations to senior management, ensuring high-quality analysis and portfolio monitoring.

  • Assess a broad range of Project Finance and Aviation Finance transactions across infrastructure, energy, transportation, and aircraft assets.

  • Partner with front office teams to provide risk-based guidance, identify issues, and escalate concerns where appropriate.

  • Develop expertise across Structured Finance sectors, markets, and financing structures, with a commitment to continuous learning.

  • Promote a strong risk culture through proactive risk management, collaboration, and constructive challenge.

  • Support the development of risk appetite frameworks, credit policies, and strategic risk initiatives.

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the region and globally, sharing best practices and supporting the One MUFG strategy.

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in Project Finance and/or Aviation Finance, with a sound understanding of regulatory requirements relating to credit sanctioning and portfolio monitoring.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • A results-driven mindset with a strong sense of accountability.

  • The ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.

  • A proactive approach to learning and staying informed on market and credit developments.

  • Strong attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Gross salary based on experience and consistent with the market
